Mary Lister reviewed: Making a stained glass leaded panel

"We’d booked this course as a group of friends for a good day out together and it was fab. We were all absolutely new to stained glass work but Caryl is a great teacher, giving us just the right amount of instruction and support to produce our own piece of stained glass at the end of the day. It was fun and relaxing and we had a lovely lunch thrown in too. Couldn’t have been better!"

Elaine Bent reviewed: Clay life modelling weekend with Karin Ort

"My daughter persuaded me to sign up for this course and I loved it. Last time I did anything arty was at school which was a long time ago. So feeling a bit anxious I turned up to a lovely group and a great teacher. Karin is so patient and encouraging. After not knowing if I would be able to create something iI wanted to take home, I am now waiting on it coming out of the kiln with great anticipation. A great way of taking your mind of everything apart from the clay and model. More fun than a meditation weekend."

The Phoenix Studio responded:

"Thanks for the lovely review Elaine! You're right, sculpting is like meditation, only more fun! I am so glad you enjoyed your time here and we hope to see you again soon!"

Christine Dacombe reviewed: Modern calligraphy (full day workshop) - Hampshire

"Really full and interesting course. Sunita is an excellent teacher and took us through everything well. Managed to complete a "project" with what I had learned on the day and it was good to see and try other media other than plain old ink. Need to find time to practice, practice, practice. I would thoroughly recommend the course and will look out for more courses to try."

Gloryletteringstudio responded:

"Thanks Christine, lovely review :)"

Hazel & Peter Humphreys reviewed: Taster pottery throwing lesson (various dates)

"My husband and I were given the 2.5 hours pottery throwing vouchers by our son as a surprise '0' birthday present each combined with a wedding anniversary present. We didn't know what to expect and the afternoon being a surprise, we had no advance expectations. Jack was very welcoming (with ample cups of tea and coffee and a plate of chocolate brownies he couldn't go wrong) and explained the various stages of making a pot which we promptly forgot, but we relaxed during the process of moulding the clay which we found very therapeutic. Jack then calmly took us through the process again as we made our first of three pots each which turned out better than we'd expected. Pot No.2 turned out better for me than the first so by the time I got to pot No. 3 I was feeling rather cocky and it was only Jack's miracle work proving what an expert he is, that saved it from disaster. He was very encouraging throughout, so although each of our pot shapes were completely unplanned, by the end of our session we'd had a great time and felt very pleased with ourselves."

Murray Allan reviewed: Sculptural green wood working

"I had a great day with Stephen and his workshop. We were taught about different woods for carving, Stephen explained about the different tools including mallets, and about sharpening. You just don't need an expensive and dangerous wheel for this. Its all much simpler than i thought. My one regret is I don't live closer! Thanks Stephen, all the very best to you Murray"

Maureen Stephens reviewed: Handmade canes, beads and jewellery from Polymer clay in Bedfordshire.

"One of the most enjoyable days I have had for a long time. I do a little bit of polymer clay work but always wanted to learn about making canes and learnt so much. Bernadette was a joy to spend the day with as she is passionate about her craft and loves sharing her knowledge. She was able to adapt the day to my needs, going at a comfortable pace but stretching me as well which was perfect. Cannot recommend this course more highly for both beginners and experienced people. I came away with an exquisite set of beads that I am wearing with great pride. Thank you Bernadette."

Treasunique responded:

"Bless you Maureen, what a lovely review, so kind of you, and hope this is a launch into new arenas of creativity for you."

Kerry Ellis reviewed: Bespoke candle making workshop - Edinburgh

"Had the most lovely Sunday morning on Kerry's candle making workshop. We were welcomed in to her lovely home, where Kerry explained her reasons for starting her own business, showed us how to make our own candles, our own oil fragrance and explained the right and wrong ways to burn candles. Kerry was extremely friendly and knowledgeable in her craft. Once we had made our candles and fragrance, Kerry served up a very delicious warm crumble with cuppa, which gave us more time to chat to others in the group and ask any questions we may have, I also purchased a starter pack for a very reasonable price. I have made a scent that I hope to use in making my own candles for my wedding day. I would definitely recommend to anyone and will be back for the Christmas workshop."

Lorraine Halley reviewed: Willow bird sculpture with Joe Gregory in Todmorden, Yorkshire

"I have attended 3 of Joevenka’s courses and they are such great fun. Joe is such a fantastic and patient tutor, enabling everyone to produce a unique creation. I now proudly display my heron and pheasant alongside a hare. My neighbours were so impressed by my heron and hare that we arranged a private course for 10 of us in our village hall to sculpt a bird of our choice. My next aim is to attend a stag/reindeer course. Thank you Joe for the opportunity."

Creative with Nature Ltd responded:

"Thanks Lorraine!! really appreciated. Joe. xxx"

Jane Bransgrove reviewed: One to one, One day, blacksmith course

"I had a fantastic time with Alex at Chalk Pit Forge. As a complete beginner, I was delighted to be able to produce a bird bath (with Alex's help) at the end of the day. It's a real hands-on experience and lots of fun. Alex is a very friendly and knowledgeable tutor who patiently guides you through numerous techniques. Book it, get stuck in, get it hot and hit it!"

Chalk Pit Forge responded:

"Thanks for the great review. You did an excellent job and really got stuck in. Full credit to you. Hope you enjoy your bird bath and keep being creative. Alex"

"Couldn't have been happier with my raku firing day. I took my mum as a birthday present and we had a wonderful day. We managed to get four firings in one day and a great bunch of people to enjoy it with. Jackie made a delicious lunch and Richard was absolutely brilliant. We both came away with three beautiful pots and both thought it was exceptional value for money. Thank you for a great day."

Danny Spiers reviewed: A fabulous introduction to fused glass - one day course

"I attended this course and was amazed at what I learnt! I was very careful to choose a course where I would have the freedom to create my own pieces from my own ideas and that's exactly what I was able to do. Not only did I learn lots but I also created a beautiful piece of glass art (a sugar skull!) that now sits on my wall at home. Siobhan is a one of a kind and super talented. The lunch was great and refreshments were continuous. It was a real privilege to be in Siobhan's studio and to be instructed by her. Highly recommend! My kiln is now on order and I cannot wait to create my own little space to create my own glass!"

"A very useful course, it can be suitable for complete beginner or someone, who is more experienced. - step by step explanation - key areas have been shown and taught in detail - friendly and easy-going approach I brought my old side table to upcycle for use in the garden. With extra information, I can now have a matching with the rest of my garden furniture, and durable addition. I have also received valuable information on materials, finishes, types, techniques, which I can now use on my further projects. Thanks again and I shall be back to change the upholstery on my old armchair."
