Malcolm Donnelly reviewed: Box making weekend in Cumbria

"I have no criticism. I am a complete novice having sat behind a desk my whole life, and I was apprehensive that I would make a fool of myself with the simplest task, even measuring. I needn’t have worried. Mark and Richard were supportive, encouraging, practical and expert in every respect and I managed things I never dreamed I’d be able to do, under their friendly supervision. To cap it all I have a beautiful box to prove that it really happened! I thoroughly recommend this course. If you have half the fun I’ve had you will be very happy indeed."

"We gave my 15 year old son a 1-1 day course with Mark as a Christmas present. He had a wonderful time and learned so much. He was a complete beginner and, with Mark's help, made a lovely bowl. He is now enthusiastic to do more and cannot wait to acquire his own workshop. We are delighted with Mark's tuition and help and recommend him wholeheartedly."

"David is an excellent craftsman, wonderful teacher, and welcoming host. Victoria Sherwood reviewed: Introduction to mosaics / further adventures in mosaic workshop

"I had some experience making mosaics, but I still learned a lot from Kate. She allowed us to work at our own pace and gave great advice on design and also what was possible in the time given. I picked up a lot of great tips, and I would definitely attend one of Kate's courses again!"

Julia Berkin reviewed: Gelli Plate Printing Workshop by Clare Cosens

"What a great way to spend a Saturday morning, learning a new skill with a small friendly group. Clare is an enthusiastic and inspirational teacher, and soon got us up to speed with the various techniques of Gelli plate printing, with plenty of tips on how to make your own stencils, from bits around the home & garden. I was amazed how quickly the group started to produce different styled prints. It was great to be able to experiment with different paints and techniques, with Clare on hand to help. I would definitely recommend this course & would love to attend again."

Fred reviewed: Make your very own Tote bag

"Richard is an amazing teacher, very patient and super encouraging. My workshop day went over in time but Richard stayed with us until the end and until we were satisfied with our bags. He definitely went the extra mile! I had the opportunity to learn the basics, and along the way made an amazing tote bag with very high quality leather. If you are hesitant, don’t be! I would definitely recommend to any of my friends."

Charlotte Bennett reviewed: Full day leather craft workshop

"This was a fantastic course and I would say one of the best craft courses I have been on. Rosanna was very knowledgeable and I really enjoyed her calm but very detailed approach to leather teaching. It was a very relaxing day and my dad and I didn't want to go home as we enjoyed it so much! We couldn't stop talking about how much we loved it on the way home. I would definitely recommend this course and it is great value for money considering what you learn and make. The course was a gift for my dad for Xmas, as he wants to pursue leather making but after completing this course, I too will continue to make some leather accessories at home."

Chrystal Murphysmith reviewed: Wet-felting workshop with Fabulous Feltings

"Jane is a fantastic, friendly and fun tutor and the course was brilliant. I learnt so much from her and we got along brilliantly. The course is great for anyone from total beginners to those with more advanced skills. The small class numbers allow her to focus on you as an individual and give you lots of tips and pointers to help you on your felting journey."

Fabulous Feltings responded:

"Dear Chrystal Thank you so much for your kind words. You work was so unique! In fact all my student’s work reflect their own unique personalities so there’s never any question of ‘copying’ styles or designs - the wool works its magic and brings out inter artistic talents. Jane"

Ann reviewed: Bead jewellery making party/ Workshop

"I attended this course within the last month and really enjoyed it. Lindsey was very patient, friendly and helpful and gave plenty of 1 on 1 attention to make sure I managed to create a bracelet and earrings and would be able to keep making them after the course. She was very generous with her knowledge and recommended suppliers for all of the equipment. She also showed us how to make beautiful boxes that we could present our jewellery in for gifts. I have subsequently made more earrings and bracelets. The course was a brilliant introduction that has opened up a new hobby which I'm really loving."

Sarah reviewed: Glass bottle cutting for beginners in Kent

"A lovely afternoon spent on this course with my friend and brother in law, we had a fantastic time and made 5 pieces during the 3 hours including a storm lantern. Claire and Janet supplied us with a great choice of different bottles that we could select for our projects. It was set at the right pace and was a craft that I could continue with at home with only a few tools."

Sue Strassheim reviewed: Handmade cards in Hampshire

"June made the card-making course a thoroughly enjoyable experience from beginning to end. After being shown some basic techniques for producing backgrounds and using stamps, we were let loose. I really appreciated that there were lots of exemplars which could be copied or used as a source of inspiration once we felt confident enough to try designs of our own. The finished results looked surprisingly professional and certainly exceeded my expectations. The morning was relaxing and stress-free, and I certainly want to book a further course to practise the skills I learnt and to acquire some new techniques. Thanks for a brilliant session."

Cardinal Cards responded:

"Hi Sue. Thank you so much for your lovely review. It was a pleasure to meet you and you did indeed make professional looking cards. It would be lovely to show you other techniques so I hope to hear from you soon. June x"

Mabs reviewed: Glass fusing workshop - 1 day

"I've been wanting to do a fused glass course for years but somehow never got around to it. Sandra, Jill and I went on a day's course, all of us pretty unsure of what we could achieve during the day. We need not have worried as we were immediately put at ease by Jill and John plus tea, cake and yummy chocolates. Jill gave us advice and tips on our intended designs and we soon entered 'the zone'. Making the first piece of artwork was so relaxing, and we had access to all the lovely glass frits, powders, stringers and wires. I was in heaven, like a kid in a sweetie shop. After a very tasty lunch we enjoyed the afternoon making our second pieces. I would thoroughly recommend this course, Jill and John are friendly and make you feel relaxed from the moment you arrive. Jill is great at teaching, I learnt a lot about glass work and I'm keen to learn more, so will be signing up for another day's course soon. Brill day!"

Fired Glass responded:

"Thank you for your review Mabs and we're so pleased that you enjoyed your session and we helped to put you at ease, that's great to hear. You all created some super pieces when you were with us. We look forward to seeing you again in the future. Kind regards John and Jill."

Peggy reviewed: Saturday silver clay wrapped ring workshop at Ransom's Pavilion, Hitchin 1.30pm - 5pm

"I’ve attended two of Tuuli’s courses, the silver clay jewellery workshop and the adjustable ring workshop and really enjoyed them both. I found them very informative and a great introduction to all the processes and techniques you need to learn to make your own silver clay jewellery. It was lovely to spend a morning being creative with other like minded people and to come away with a beautiful piece of jewellery you’ve actually made yourself. Thank you Tuuli!"

Tuuli Parker responded:

"Thank you so much for your feedback Peggy, I'm so glad that you have enjoyed the workshops and the opportunity to spend time in a creative environment with others - the best way to spend time!"

Adrian Watson reviewed: Blacksmith Experience Day - Anvil Forge

"My wife bought this course for my sons 18th birthday and I was lucky enough to get to go too! I cannot recommend this highly enough. It’s a real working site with an expectation that those on the experience muck in and just get on with life in the metal works. Don’t expect frills - expect to have a bunch of really lovely people trying their hardest to give you a great day. Working metal in the forge within minutes with great teachers on hand opened the day. Quickly followed by the team helping bring some artistic or practical ideas to life and ensuring that nobody left the day without something to be proud of. There is just the right amount of help provided. Can’t wait to return for another trip now I know a little more. Looking forward to the next pub lunch with the guys."

Olly Braithwaite reviewed: 1-to-1 Beginners Leatherworking Workshop

"Had a 1-2-1 lesson with Pipa today, and came back having learnt so much! I have no experience working with leather, but wanted to give it ago. I had a very specific period in history that I wanted to examine, which Pipa adapted the course to suit. Full of knowledge and experience, Pipa is a natural tutor with plenty of patience and no question went unanswered. Had a great time discussing my project and came back filled with confidence I now have the knowledge to tackle it. Thank you Pipa! A fantastic experience."
