Woodworking - Beginner/Intermediate - four days

All polished and complete

About the Course

This four day extended beginner/intermediate course will be based around the mortice and tenon joint and will include additional instruction and a more challenging experience over the two day beginners course.

It would be appropriate for an enthusiastic beginner with a basic understanding in woodworking and those with a degree of experience wishing to create a simple but nonetheless more involved item of furniture than they may have previously undertaken.

The course will be predominately project led in the crafting of a small table in English Oak to take home with you.

I have a relaxed and informal approach to tuition and there will be no more than four participants on the course to allow for maximum individual attention.

The Dovetail workshop, is located in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, based in a Grade II listed, mid 19th century boat maintenance building on the Shropshire Union Canal and is within easy reach of the M6, J14.

NB day/date combinations: For those not able to commit to four consecutive days, this course has been scheduled as two x 2 day sessions, a week apart starting on the first date listed.

If you will be redeeming a CraftCourses gift voucher on this course, the voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

What's included in the price?

Timber and any other materials for the project are included as is the provision of all tools and equipment required for the course.

There are drinks making facilities at the workshop for tea/coffee breaks throughout the day. For lunch; Norbury Wharf Ltd operates a tearoom where you will be able to buy food to eat there or bring back to the workshop. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own lunch to eat within the workshop.

NB Anyone under the age of 18 cannot be accepted on to this course.

In-person course

Steve is an excellent instructor, he knows so much and passes that knowledge on very well. Years in the carpentry trade have made him a perfectionist and he also passes on that level of perfection, and if there are two things I take away from this course it's patience and accuracy. I never thought I would make such a beautiful item as the oak table, but it came together and I have an item I can rightly be proud of.
Thanks Steve.

Response from Dovetail Woodworking:
