Wooden Cup & Tea Spoon Carving - With Tim Graham

Ever fancied learning how to carve your own tea-spoon and wooden cup to hold your morning espresso, an evening tipple or anything in between? If so, why not come join Tim Graham for a day of steadily removing wood chips at Grow Wilder in Frenchay? The course will take place in the Tree to Treen workshop, a timber-famed open-sided barn surrounded by the fields and trees of an Avon Wildlife Nature Reserve. This is the perfect project for all levels of woodworker including beginners, requiring only a few simple tools to shape the wood. All tools and timber will be provided plus a small pot of a oil and beeswax blend to seal the cup and spoon when they're fully dry. You’ll go through: - Material selection and sourcing. - How to use the required sharp tools safely and effectively. - Rough hollowing of your cup. - Inside and outside refinement of the surface. - Notes on how to dry your cup and apply the finish to seal it. - Guidance on carving a simple tea-spoon. - Tips on buying and maintaining your own tools. Please note that there needs to be a minimum of four guests for this course to go ahead. If the minimum number of bookings is not reached the course may be cancelled or re-scheduled at your host's discretion.
