Spend a full, hands-on day in our Suffolk workshop learning the beautiful craft of steam bending and making your own oak tray to take home and use. This workshop is ideal for adults who want to try something different, get properly stuck in with real tools and materials, and come away with a finished, functional piece they’re proud of. It makes a fantastic creative gift experience for birthdays, anniversaries, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas – or simply a treat for yourself. You don’t need any previous woodworking experience. We’ll start with a friendly introduction to steam bending and then you’ll be bending wood yourself within the first part of the morning. Working in a small group, you’ll experiment with the four core techniques of steam bending and learn what oak can and can’t do as you shape it.

Over the day you’ll: · Try out different steam bending methods on test pieces · Learn how to safely handle and bend steamed oak around formers · Design and bend the surround for your tray · Create a cork base using this wonderfully sustainable material · Customise your tray with your choice of wood finish and oil Every tray leaves the workshop looking completely different – your wood selection, bend shapes and finishing choices mean your piece will be truly individual. You’ll go home with: · A finished oak and cork tray, ready to use or gift. · A bundle of your steam-bent test pieces. · New skills and confidence with this unique wood-working technique. All materials and equipment are provided, and our plant-based finishing oils mean the whole process is vegan-friendly.

Please wear clothes that don't matter if they get oil on them. We provide gloves for oiling to protect your hands but occasionally there can be spillages!
Please wear closed toe shoes and ties for long hair.
Yes - we have amble space on our drive and on the field opposite.
We can have up to 7 people and are happy to hold team building / corporate days / parties.
