Arrived at Graham's workshop to a warm welcome. There were two of us on the course, myself a 72 year old woman who had always wanted to learn to "turn wood" and another gentleman. There was a lot of info to get into 3 hours but Graham answered all my many questions and comfortably showed us, in stages, how to create a wooden ash bowl whilst explaining the pros and cons of it all. We also learnt about which type of lathe to invest in for our own use and all was made very interesting for us, even having time to eagerly enjoy a hot drink part way through. I felt I had "had a ball" and Graham pointed out "Yes Sue, a ball and a bowl". When returning home I was asked did you make that yourself and could you do it again and I proudly answered "Yes, of course".
I am anxious to continue onto making my own bowls and other smaller items and hope to book a further course soon with Graham.
So I fully recommend having a go. Thanks Graham.

This was a birthday gift for my husband, but we both ended up thoroughly enjoying ourselves and were very proud with the bowls we took home. Graham was really friendly and helpful providing excellent instructions without feeling rushed. looks like my husband may now have found a new hobby! Graham and his wife Chris made excellent hosts and we also enjoyed the tour of the garden and seeing the hedghogs.

The course was excellent and Graham is a great tutor. I learned so much and made my own bowl at the session. I was made welcome and the whole experience was well worth it. I would highly recommend it to my friends.

We had such a fantastic time. I expected to come home with something small but we made a lovely bowl each which has now taken pride of place in the sitting room for all to see :) Graham is such a good teacher and a pleasure to meet. I highly recommend attending his sessions and hope to return again someday, think I may have to drop a few hints that this was such a great Christmas present. Thank you so much Graham keep up the good work :)

Colin was given a wood turning tuition lesson with Graham for his 80th birthday from his family. Colin arrived to a warm welcome from Graham. Colin found the experience very enjoyable. He said that the tuition was first class. Top quality equipment was used. It was an interesting morning and Colin was really pleased with the bowl that he came home with. He would recommend this session to others who are interested. Even the grandchildren had a chance of a little go which they thoroughly enjoyed as Colin was finishing his session. Thank you.

What a fabulous morning I had with Graham learning about wood turning. I am so proud of the bowl I managed to produce with Graham's excellent tuition and guidance. As a keen crafter who likes to dabble in something new, this is now my new favourite. Would recommend this to everyone. Hope to return with my son, who bought this as a gift for me, to share the experience.

We really had a fantastic time. Grahame was really knowledgeable and a great teacher. Both my husband and I loved learning a skill and came away with beautiful bowls and happy memories. A great birthday activity... And already thinking about going back for more.

As a lover of wood, but fearful of lathes and chisels, I have always admired what a wood turner can do but never imagined I would EVER be able make anything other than a bag of wood chips. I signed up to do a half day course while on holiday in the New Forest and now wish I had booked the whole day. From the moment I met Graham I felt very relaxed as he made you feel very much at ease. His instructions and tutoring were delivered in such a way as to make you listen but not feel pressured. My half day with Graham resulted in a wonderful wooden bowl some twelve inches in diameter that I can say with confidence "it was made in the New Forest" and very proud to say "I made that". If you ever wanted to work with wood, in a friendly and safe environment, I would highly recommend this course. Thank you Graham and look forward to my revisit soon.

Great day spent with Graham learning how to woodturn.
Good instruction on types of wood, drying, tools & kit but best of all - we got straight on and started to make something!
Just the right amount of instruction and hands on learning resulted in a lovely bowl hand crafted by myself!
I have now got myself covered in wood chips and sawdust and will look forward to doin it again.

It was the first time I had used a wood lathe since leaving school in 1970. Graham took myself and John the other student, through the different types of wood, how they are gathered, cut and how he stores and drys them naturally prior to use, he also told us about his 3 lathes, all very interesting. I was taught to use the lathe and gouges/turning tools on a practice piece, then I moved onto taking a roughly rounded plank of Cedar Lebanon wood, and with Grahams expert guidance I ended up making a bowl finished with lemon oil, which I will treasure. A most enjoyable experience and I would recommend this relaxed and informative course to anyone, even if you have never used a lathe before you will master it with Grahams guidance.

I got Dad a half day wood turning session for Christmas and we finally got around to it this weekend. It was fantastic, Graham explained things really clearly and Dad and I were both really pleased with our bowls.

Such an amazing experience! Myself and my husband attended for our 5th wedding anniversary as the theme was wood. Graham (and the dogs) are very friendly and personable and he has a great way of teaching, very relaxed, calm and great fun. Would totally recommend this experience to anyone and hope to see Graham again for perhaps a longer, more indepth class in the future.

Had a very informative and interesting half day course with Graham in a very well equipped clean well lit workshop, Grahams knowledge is wide ranging to the point of ageing wood and inducing deep patterns encouraged by leaving wood under hedges (you only get this from experience) I would recommend this course to anyone.
Rodney Bird - - #5192
A really good experience , Graham is a very patient teacher, I came away feeling very satisfied with a lovely bowl as a keepsake of my efforts

I had an amazing day working with Graham in his workshop. Very thorough tuition and an inspiring teacher. By the end of the day I was already planning my next session. It has definitely enthused a new passion for me!

What a great way to spend a morning, to start off with a block of wood, learn how to shape it, hollow it, sand it down and polish it leaving 3 hours later with a beautifully handcrafted bowl that I'm now very proud of! Graham was very patient with a couple of complete novices who are now hooked on wood turning and plan to return soon to attempt to make candle sticks!
Kara Birrell - - #4192
My 11 year old son and i had a brilliant time at Graham's workshop. Graham keeps his teaching nice and simple and has a good balance between showing you how to do it and letting you do it yourself. We were both amazed how well we did and what we made.
Would recommend a visit to Grahams workshop to anyone.
Ps...good quality tea and biscuits too!!! (thanks Chris)

Fantastic morning that my son (age 12) and I thoroughly enjoyed. Graham is not only knowledgable, he is a great teacher and we can away with fantastic pens and bowls. Graham and his wife Chris, are very hospitable and great company, making the whole experience fun.

My friend and I booked this course as part of our voyage of discovery into various crafts. We had a great day. We both made a bowl. Graham was really friendly and such a good teacher. Just the right balance between showing us / helping us and letting us do for ourselves. I would highly recommend this day for anyone who is interested in craft. Thanks Graham!
Samantha Russell - - #3358
What a fantastic morning we had! My boyfriend and I were bought the experience as a birthday present and we had no idea what to expect. We had so much fun making candle sticks and bowls and we're delighted with the results - a great looking bowl we each made ourselves! Graham and his wife Chris are fabulous hosts, made us feel truly welcome. Graham is a great and patient teacher. Can't recommend this experience highly enough. We're telling all our friends and will be returning!

A very good introduction to wood turning. I came away with a very attractive fruit bowl. The instruction was very good for the group of 2. The only way it could have been better would be if it was 1 on 1.
Michael Hedge - - #3337
I had a very enjoyable 3 hour course with Graham and learned a great deal in the time. I am new to wood turning and was having problems with catches. Graham talked me through the problems and we worked on the piece of beech I was having difficulty with. With his guidance I was able to finish the project with no problem. I then made a small hardwood bowl and he demonstrated the different stages from starting with a circular blank to the finished piece. Well worth the £40.

My wife purchased a 3 hour course with Graham as a birthday present - I had mentioned my interest in looking at woodturning as a potential hobby... Well... Graham and the dogs welcomed me at 9am on a sunny Sunday morning and the next 3 hours were outstanding. Grahams teaching methods and patience are so encouraging and no matter how many times I asked for things to be repeated/explained (short term memory issues on a Sunday morning!), Graham calmly and patiently guided me through many turning processes. It has given me an initial understanding on how the tools work and the possibilities of wood turning as a hobby.
No -one was more surprised than me about how lovely the grain looked on my finished bowl and my wife was astounded that something like that could be produced in a morning. - requests for more bowls have been mentioned from family members and I haven't even got a lathe yet!
I now officially have the bug! (just need to sort out a location for the lathe, tools etc....)
If you are considering this as a hobby or want to top up your knowledge/skill levels, then look no further. A fun, informative, productive and relaxing time with someone who clearly loves what they do and enjoys passing on that passion! Thanks again Graham!

One of the most memorable Sunday mornings I have ever had! Graham was an absolutely charming, humorous and welcoming host who allowed us to make a huge pile of wood shavings on his floor whilst simultaneously leading us on a path that led to our very own, turned and polished works of art. The atmosphere was so relaxing, it was like we were old friends who all had a love of wood turning, rather than two novices who barely knew what a lathe was. We never felt as if we were being taught or managed, we were merely gently guided and allowed to find our own way in this very hands-on experience.
I cannot recommend this experience enough - it was simply lovely and wonderful, and both my wife and I are already planning when to return to see Graham and Chris again.

One of the best days ever! Graham and Chris were just the most lovely, welcoming couple, who couldn't do enough to make sure we were comfortable; we all very much enjoyed looking round the garden and hearing all about the hedgehogs before our lesson.
The lesson itself was just amazing, graham was brilliant at guiding us all through the bowl making process at our own pace, and it was very rewarding to get a lovely bowl to take home!
Would 100% reccomend this to everyone as a fantastic day out and will definitely be returning.
Big thank you to Graham and Chris!!

Graham's kind and patient nature and willingness to share his skills has meant I have created everything from bowls to mushrooms, next it's a pen. I really enjoy the session, Graham ensures they are fun and relaxed, but all the time I'm learning. Overall fantastic.
Jayne newman - - #2593
I really enjoy the sessions; every time I go back I am learning something new and developing my skills. Graham really helps you to understand what you are doing and how to do it. I have taken home pieces that people can't believe I have made myself. The sessions are fun and friendly, and you learn at your own pace with the great support from Graham.
