Karen Lawrence has been weaving baskets for 10 years. She holds a level 3 City and Guilds weaving qualification from City Lit. She was made a Yeoman member of the Worshipful Company of Basketmakers' in 2018 and is a member of the Basketmakers' Association.
Learn how to weave a sturdy 5ft plant support for your garden. Students will learn lobster pot weave to shape their willow wigwam and also a willow binding knot to hold everything together at the top.
The fatball feeder is made using two different weaves, waling and pairing. Students will learn how to create the shape of this basket using the weaves before finishing with a simple border and handle. These baskets also look great in the kitchen holding garlic, lemons or even fairy lights.

Thank you Karen, we both enjoyed a very happy morning making our willow plant supports and the brewery buildings are a fantastic setting to learn in.
Great fun and so lovely to come home with a much admired addition to our gardens.
We just need a pretty clematis to grow up them now.
