Surface Techniques in Glass with the Cheshire School of Glass

Surface Techniques in Glass with the Cheshire School of Glass

Using imagery ranging from hand-drawn artwork to images found on the internet or in books as inspiration, you will learn to create artworks using painting techniques, coloured vitreous powders, use of fine line enamels and decorative inclusions.

You will also learn how to use stencilling techniques to create a design that can be sandblasted into the glass surface. We’ll cover the ancient technique of silver staining and use of high-temperature pigment enamels in the design and production of your very own bowl and a series of wall pieces!

This course is both intensive and rewarding with wonderful results. It gives you the knowledge and ability to make unique artwork using this amazing medium.

Two days of excellent teaching pushed all of us beyond expectations: individual advice was very helpful and thorough. I have never learnt to do something to such a professional level before. Jenny taught us all some brilliant tricks to create incredible work. Our results were phenomenal.

This course was outstanding. It was both well executed and inspiring. I was taught some vital skills to set up my own workshop. The quality of the pieces we made were beyond my expectations. I was delighted with the results. Jenny is very welcoming and gives her all to the people who come on the class.

I recommend this course to anyone. Even if you aren't that artistic. We used clever tricks to create really professional looking imagery. Steph and Jenny worked really hard to give the absolute maximum to all 4 students. This course is fantastic. Thank you to both of you.

The images course run at the Cheshire school of Glass is amazing. They are generous with materials. Jenny is so good at bringing the best out in people's ability. I loved every bit of the two days and would love to go back. I learnt so much from a highly skilled professional.

Thank you for a great two days. I enjoyed all of it. My only criticism would be that I think this course should have been 3 days long. By the time I had realised the potential of the techniques sandblasting and enamel layering, I was in to the next day. But I suppose that is the nature of the beast - using a kiln and waiting to see the results the next day. Very good course though.

Jenny and Steph are such a great team. They made everyone feel so welcome. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun. You get 10% off the next course , so we are going to do glass fusing next. Cheshire school of glass is also affiliated with the glass company Pearsons in Liverpool, which means that we got a discount voucher for Pearsons coloured glass and tools . I loved this course and the people who ran it. Great place and wonderful equipment.

This is a really intense 2 day course about creating images in glass on the surface using enamels, sandblasting and lots of other interesting metal based products that create imagery on to glass. This was such a fabulous and diverse course. I met some great people and enjoyed every minute.

I didn't want to go home. What can I say? The course went too quickly. I have wanted to work with glass for such a long time, now I have found Jenny , I/m going to come back and do the rest of hers and Steph's courses at The Cheshire School of Glass. We all got on so wee as a group and I think we will all stay in touch, which is a bonus. Thank you for a fabulous time and the scones!

Excellent! My Mum and I thoroughly enjoyed our class with Jenand came away really happy with the glass panels that we made. Jen is a great teacher and has so much knowledge and enthusiasm for the topic, it was definitely infectious as we want to try making more things now! Would recommend the class to anyone as a fun day out that also gives you a greater appreciation for the skill and craftmanship involved.
Best regards,
Katy Roberts.
