A spinner ring is both fashionable and mystical. Two different rings are made and fitted together so that the smaller ring can spin, when moved, around the larger ring. This spinning motion is believed to have a calming effect on the wearer.

This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a converted Lakeland barn on our traditional family farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Why not make it a special break and stay on the farm. You will find details of accommodation on our website.
All our tutors are carefully selected professionals and experts with extensive teaching experience. Whilst this is a relatively new venture, George, who has set up Cowshed Creative, has many years of experience programming and running creative courses at the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and for Cumbria Adult Education.

As an experienced silver smith just taking up making again after a long break I found this course a useful aid to help me re engage with the stages of making. I really enjoyed making the spinner ring and found the tutor Amanda to be very patient and helpful, showing how easy the whole process of making a spinning ring can be, and the endless design possibilities that there are.
The Cowshed was was a really nice venue for the course and so tranquil and George was so accommodating with coffee and the food was superb! And the barn was so warm as the day was rather cool.
I had a wonderful day and would definitely come on another course.
Response from Cowshed Creative (Kentmere Farm Pods and Creative Courses):Thanks for such lovely comments Jane. Great to meet you and hope to see you again.
This course was a fantastic experience. My reasons for choosing this course:
1. I already knew Amanda as a tutor and wanted to work with her again. She is patient, talented and very well organised. I like her as a person and really admire her work. I'm not naturally crafty but I knew she would ensure I made a lovely ring.
2. George's barn is such a beautiful place. It has been so well renovated and the scenic surroundings make it a joy to visit. George went to great lengths to cater for my allergies and the food was delicious. She was so attentive, making teas and coffees and ensuring we were all comfortable.
3. It was a great opportunity to make a ring with my son (age 23). The day was his birthday present and he wanted to make a ring for his partner. I knew it would be a friendly environment and a small enough group for us all to chat and enjoy each others company.
We had a wonderful day and I would definitely do it again.
