If you’re new to working with polymer and/or silver clay, why not have a go at both? This class will give you the opportunity to learn or refresh your skills with the two materials together, whilst providing a great starting point for creating new, exciting and unique jewellery.
Students will have the chance to make a simple pendant and drop earring set for example, which combines both silver and polymer clay elements. We will look at design ideas, the necessary considerations when working with each material and how to create your piece(s).
During this fun day, you’ll learn all the basics for working with each material including how to mix polymer colours, how to texture and cut shapes, how to ensure your elements work successfully together and how to torch fire your silver. You’ll come away with a truly unique personal collection, a materials and supplier list and lots of ideas for pieces to make in the future!
This workshop is suitable for those aged 16+.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 4 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

1 day (10:00am to 5:00pm)
Clear instructions - lots of support (and patience) for individual ideas (however 'weird' they might be )
- beautiful surroundings - easy access - wonderful materials - possibilities endless - and probably all achievable with help from Jo !
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Cheri - thank you for your lovely review. I think we both really enjoyed the challenge of trying a different approach to your project, and I was thrilled with your results! It was a pleasure to meet you both yesterday.
Great day. Achieved more than I expected with Jo giving us ideas and not just basic designs. I now feel confident enough to have a go by myself.
Had a really great day with Jo yesterday. Lovely peaceful surroundings and a great, bright and pleasant workshop to work in. Watched lots of squirrels and rabbits playing in the woods.
Not my first time working with Jo but I always learn something different. Came away with some lovely pieces (more than expected). Jo is very helpful and patient and offers great guidance - would recommend her workshops if you haven't already attended any. Left feeling very happy and relaxed.
I had a fantastic day at Westcountry Creative with Jo. I came away with a pair of earrings, a pendant and a brooch. Having only worked with Sterling Silver in sheet and wire form, I wanted to learn more about how these materials work and how I could use and adapt them into possible creations in the future. Her workshop is set in lovely surroundings and was very easy to find. Jo was very patient and explained things clearly and was very happy to give hints and tips which we could use at home. There are a lot of Silver Clay courses on offer, some of which are closer to where I live, but this was the only one I found that gave you the opportunity to try both Polymer Clay and Silver Clay in the same day. Another factor as to why I booked this course was that I felt it was important to like the work shown on her website. I've come across other courses which showed the work to be chunky and heavy looking and I wanted to create something more delicate, which is what Jo produces. My journey with these materials has only just begun and I'm sure this won't be the only course I book with Jo. Hope to see you again soon.
I had a wonderful day with Jo at West Country Creative, and came away with 2 beautiful silver leaf pendants and a polymer clay pendant, which could be worn on its own or with one of the pendants. Jo is an inspiring teacher, full of creative ideas as to how to get the best piece of jewellery possible to take home. She explains all the processes very clearly, but is also very relaxed. The studio is very light and in a very peaceful setting, but very easy to get to from the nearby A30.
I would recommend this course very highly, and it was well worth the 4 hour trip from my home. It was my second course and it won't be the last.
Response from West Country Creative Ltd:Hi Janet, thank you for the lovely review. I'm sure you'll get lots of compliments when you wear any of them!

Had a lovely day at Westcountry Creative, Best of Both workshop. Made a gorgeous pendant and earings, which have already been complimented on by my friends and family. Jo was a great teacher and explained how each process worked brilliantly. Would definitely like to come back and do another workshop one day.
