Rag rug weekend in Worcestershire Farmhouse

Progged cotton rag rug

There will be time to relax and work on a project using one or two traditional rag rug techniques, chat and eat delicious home cooked food.
Take a break from the rat race : small group, relaxed company; time to finish a small project if you are so inclined or start one to finish later.

Arrive after 5pm on Friday evening: dinner is at 7.30 and you can choose from their selection of local beer, wine or cider.
On Saturday we work on our up-cycling projects (hooking and progging) from after breakfast until about 6pm with breaks for a light lunch and refreshments. After dinner people sometimes like to keep working but it's not compulsory! We will continue on Sunday morning until lunch at 13.00 after which the course finishes.

Enjoy keeping this vintage craft alive - our grannies recycled their worn clothes to make mats for their cold floors. Sometimes they put rugs on their beds at night.....brrr!

Social distancing etc. will be observed. The final decision to go ahead with a course will be made in the week preceding the start date i.e. at the point where it is possible to assess the ongoing situation.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

There will be tools to try and or buy, plus hessian backing - a piece for a small project is included as are beverages and meals.

There will be Jenni's work and reference books to inspire you plus copies of 'More Rag Rugs & Recycled Textile Projects' and 'An Introduction to Rag Rugs - Creative Recycling' for sale, signed by Jenni and copies of her DVD Rag Rug Workshop (see a clip on YouTube). You bring rags and scissors - more details from Jenni.

A great day rag rugging with Jenni! I learnt lots, and have been able to finish the project at home. And I feel inspired to do more. Jenni gave us information at a good pace, letting us practice the things she taught us. Lots of items on show that she had previously made, giving us inspiration for our own creations. Would recommend the course to anyone.

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:

Looking forward to seeing your project Ceri, and glad you feel inspired to do more rag rug making. I enjoyed the company on our day workshop.

Jenni’s course on October 23 was excellent. It was a comprehensive introduction to something I knew nothing about. However, I now have the knowledge and confidence to do more pogging and explore with my rags.

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:

Looking forward to seeing what you create with your rags Audrey. The techniques are so accessible and I enjoyed sharing with you. I am really glad you are inspired to get creative.

I'd thoroughly recommend Jenni's rag rugging course. It was a perfect mix of inspiration and instruction. Lovely, informal atmosphere, with a delicious lunch and lots of tea and coffee to keep the chat flowing. I don't consider myself creative but, under Jenni's tuition, I was really happy with the seat pad I produced. It's such an accessible and addictive craft! Thank you Jenni.

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:

So glad we were able to go ahead with the workshop and I enjoyed meeting you and sharing some techniques. I hope to see your seat mat and that you are inspired to make more. Happy progging!

Really great workshop day with Jenni. Thoroughly enjoyed making a rag rug and intend to keep doing this at home as a new crafting hobby. Jenni explained all the techniques clearly and showed us examples and ideas and we were able to make progress really quickly. Really delicious lunch provided and cups of tea too. Lots of happy working chat. A lovely day. Thank you.

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:

I enjoyed sharing techniques and chatting with you. I have made quite a few friends on workshops. Looking forward to seeing your seat mat.

Really enjoyed the day. Jenni explains everything very clearly and she was on hand all day to answer questions. She showed us examples of her work and was very supportive. The group was relatively small, which actually made it even nicer!

Response from Jenni's Rag Rugs:

It's easier to help individuals with a small group. I enjoyed the day too with such interesting women who worked hard at their progging and hooking.

Jenni's courses are such a treat and so inspirational. This course is set in the most beautiful tranquil location and the lunch is amazing. The course is very well taught and provides the perfect balance of teaching, free practice and individual tuition. Jenni is very helpful but not overbearing or bossy!
This is my second course with Jenni and I have loved both of them. Thank you

Great Course - I am now hooked and rag rugging away merrily! Jenni's
instructions very clear and tips on how to combine different colours and
weights of textiles helpful. The day flew by and we learned progging as well
as hooked rugs - inspirational !. Setting very pleasant with plenty of light
to work by, congenial company and delicious refreshments, a real treat.
