Whether you’ve seen needle felting on TV, had a little go or just fancy trying something creative and different - this course is for you. An introduction to the magic of dry needle felting incl all the basic techniques, step by step, to get you started and to create a beautiful woodland creature of your own. Makes a great gift!
Starter packs, exclusive to course attendees for £15.00, are available on the day, containing everything you need to continue your needle felting ARTventures at home. Burlap needle felting mats also available as an alternative to sponge mats, particularly recommended for arthritis sufferers as less impact when needle felting, another Crafty Gal exclusive at £8.00 on the day.
Your day will start at 10:30am with a welcome tea or coffee, and conclude at 4, (giving you enough time for a crafty little mooch around the gorgeous Bonds!).
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
All materials and necessary on the day, along with a delicious lunch, tea, coffee and afternoon cake are included.
I attended the course on Monday 12th February as a Christmas treat to myself, as I had always wanted to try needle felting. The venue (Bonds) is easy to get to with lots of free parking.
Denise is lovely and very patient, the pace of the course is great and we were able to ask lots of questions about techniques and wool types. The day flew by and before we knew it we were taking home a lovely little felted fox :)
And the food - oh my gosh it was the nicest soup and sandwich i'd tasted in a long while and cake and coffee in the afternoon! It felt like a real treat of a day!
I showed a friend what I had made and she wants to have a go to, so I suspect we'll be booking on another course in the very near future!
One word of warning though - if you attend this course (if you are anything like me) you will:
a) Become addicted to needle felting
b) End up spending some more money in Bonds as they have so many lovely things on sale (I ended up with a lovely new scarf to end the day!
To sum up - if you are a complete novice and want to give needle felting a go, book yourself on this course - you won't be disappointed.
See you again soon Denise!

This was my second time on the course. I had enjoyed the first one so much I had immediately had a go at home and got the bug. It was great having a second go. I made a fox this time and learnt a few more aspects of needle felting. It was well worth the return visit and of course the teaching, setting, company (and food) made it another great day out.
I would recommend the course for a first timer or as a refresh for anyone who has already had a go. Denise is a very good teacher and will instantly put you at ease and is very generous with her knowledge.
Vivien - - #12374
I was drawn to this course after seeing pictures of Harry the Hare and signed up without even a clue what needle felting is - in other words a complete novice!
Denise is an excellent tutor taking you through a quick and useful overview of needle felting and the tools. We then got straight down to business in easy bite size steps - with Denise keeping an eye on us and offering suggestions along the way.
It was quite delightful watching the hares emerge from our wool - each with its own character and expression.
I was very proud of mine and have been showing him off everywhere! My husband loved it and thought I had bought it which was a great reaction!
The whole days package was superb and excellent value - the ambience of the venue is lovely, and delicious lunch and cake in the afternoon thrown in.
If you are wondering whether to book - don’t hesitate, you will love it!
Judy Ryder - - #12371
Response from Crafty Gal:Thank you Judy for the fantastic review, I'm so delighted you enjoyed your day so much. Your hare was so good, I'm sure it's the start of a needle felting love affair! I hope to see you again soon, meantime don't forget to send me pics of your next project. Happy needle felting!
I was a complete novice to felting and Denise made me so welcome, encouraging me that I would surprise myself by the end of the workshop. Denise is an excellent coach and took us through the materials and equipment used before starting us off on our very own Harry (or was it Harriet?) Hare.
It is a very relaxing craft and apart from needing to understand the basic principles and receiving some very helpful tips on technique, the outcome was guaranteed. Each creation had its own character and it was fun to see the other hares develop. I would totally recommend this as a day to spend learning and enjoying. Thank you, Denise.
Hazel Mills - - #12272
Response from Crafty Gal:Hazel your hare was brilliant - it was so lovely to see your confidence grow as he/she started to appear under your needles, well done you! You're no novice now! I'm looking forward to seeing what you go on to next, remember I'm here if you need any advice, good luck.
What a lovely day, start to finish and I have an impressive hare to show for it! Can't believe I actually made him but thanks to Denise for her expert tuition and also leaving room for your own creativity I feel I have the confidence to try something else at home. I already have an order for another hare. The silence at times was testament to the levels of concentration around the table and the 5 hours went in a flash. I may well sign up to do another course. A great skill to learn, oh and lunch was great too.
Highly recommended, thank you Denise
Julie Roberts - - #12271
Response from Crafty Gal:I'm so thrilled you enjoyed the day as much as I did Julie, your hare was fantastic and I can't wait to see the next one you do. It's always such fun to see everyone start with so much doubt that they could actually make the hare, then see them virtually skipping out with the thrill of what they've created. Remember I'm here if you need any help, or hopefully I'll see you at a future workshop. Good luck.
A wonderful day spent learning a new skill. A very relaxed atmosphere, great food, clear guidance and practical demonstrations which enabled all participants to produce beautiful needle felt creations. The course provided me with sufficient instruction to continue felting at home. I would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn how to needle felt.
Mary Cooper - - #12208
Response from Crafty Gal:Thank you so much Mary for the fantastic review, I thoroughly enjoyed the day too. You were so quick at picking it up, and I was so excited to see such creative results. Remember I'm here if you need any help, or maybe I'll see you on another workshop soon - either way I'm so pleased you loved it enough to continue needle felting at home.
This was an excellent course in a great environment. I am still amazed I was able to produce such a fantastic looking animal at the end of the process. The pace was just right and I went home armed with enough info and stuff to be able to have a go myself at home. That said because of the range of other things I could make and the great company I would consider doing it again.
Vivien - - #12001
Response from Crafty Gal:Thank you Vivian for posting such a lovely review. Your hare was amazing, you flew through the process and it was a joy to spend the day with you needle felting. I'm so excited you want to do more, can't wait to see pics OR work with you again on another woodland creature.

I would recommend anyone who has a crafting bone in their body to book a day of needle felting with Crafty Gal.
I arrived on a sunny, windy morning with storm Brian hot on my tail, to be welcomed with a mug of tea, and a warm friendly smile from Denise.
Denise is a very knowledgable lady with a table prepared with everything we needed for the day.
A short chat about what we were making, advice on needles and wools before we were felting like experts!
A beautiful lunch, tasty afternoon tea with home made cake.
A wonderful way to learn new skills, make new friends, relax and leave feeling great achievement, and many many felting project ideas in my head.
A friendly email from Denise followed with all the information and felting suppliers we had talked about on the day.
Can't wait for my next visit to Crafty Gal.
