Needle felt animals at Cowshed Creative in the Lake District near Windermere and Kendal

Needle Felt animals at Cowshed Creative, Lake District National Park

At Cowshed Creative, we run an extensive range of art, craft and heritage workshops in our beautifully converted art studio. Treat yourself to a creative experience on our traditional family farm in the heart of the Lake District. From the fantastic and consistent feedback we have received, you are sure to have a great day!

Needle felt: Learn to sculpt a beautiful felt model with felting needles. Using dry felting techniques you will blend your own wool to create subtle colours and transform the fleece into a 3D model animal of your choice. Be inspired by a wide range of wonderful illustrations or base your design on a much-loved pet or character you have come across. No previous experience needed.

Felting is highly addictive and can lead to compulsive creativity! Textile artist and teacher, Kate will guide you throughout the process with demonstrations and helpful hints to help bring your figure to life.Join us for a relaxed and sociable day. You will be amazed by what you create.

Kate Reid trained at Central School of Art in London in Textile Design, which led to work as a freelance knitwear designer and textile specialist. She now runs her own successful costume hire company, designing and making bespoke costumes for both theatre productions and film.

This workshop will be at Cowshed Creative, based in a traditional converted Lakeland barn at Browfoot Farm. The art studio is a stunning open plan space with plenty of room to wander outside and take inspiration from the amazing Lakeland landscape and environment of the peaceful Kentmere valley. Make it a special break and stay on the farm.

All our tutors are carefully selected professionals and experts with extensive teaching experience. Whilst this is a new venture, George, who has set up Cowshed Creative, has many years of experience programming and running creative courses for both the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal and for Cumbria Adult Education.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
