Learn leathercraft - basic skills class 1


Online live class – this class is designed to give a good study in basic leathercraft skills. The techniques learned will give you a chance to get making for yourself. You will make three projects each designed to cover different skills.

This workshop is designed to give a good start into learning basic leathercraft skills such as hand stitching, edging, and setting hardware, and can be purchased with our Part 2 class to see your skills progress.

Learning Points:

Understanding different leather types
Cutting and shaping leather, transferring templates
Saddle stitch and back stitch
Setting Rivets
Plus best practice for cutting holes, stropping and simple edging.

The class works in much the same way as a physical class, numbers are kept small and the tutor will check that everyone is keeping up. In many of the sessions there are some short videos that will show close up detail. Links to these will be available to keep after the session.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

Templates, hardware, needles, thread and leather for three projects - trinket tray, card case and a belt loop keyring.

What you will need

standard awl, stitching chisel, craft knife, strop, leather hole punch, rivet setter and dot anvil, groover, mallet, stone block and cutting mat - these can be purchased from our website and a 15% off discount is offered with your booking.
