• Wet moulding bags, purses, pouches and slim cases
Leather and lining materials for small items are included in this course fee. If you wish to make something specific please contact us beforehand. All Tools are provided for students to use.
The workshop takes place at the private manor retreat of Fialeix in Dordogne. Fialeix is situated on a hill amid beautiful pastures and ancient oak forests, with a history dating back to before Roman times.
A private residence run by our friends Kasia and Jason, the complex hosts various artisan courses and retreats and benefits from its own vegetable garden and orchard, as well as more than 35 acres of private pasture and woodland, which students are free to roam. There is also a swimming pool, and less than 10 minutes away is the stunning chateau town of Hautefort with shops and restaurants.
Once you arrive at Fialeix, your only task is to get immersed in your leather work and relax in these soul-enriching environs.
• The course will take place over three days. You will learn how to make leather goods using the finest vegetable tanned leathers and traditional hand techniques.
• Group of 5-6 people, everyone receives individual tuition throughout the course
• Transfers for flights are the responsibility of individual students – however we will happily give a competitive quote. The nearest airports are in Brive, Limoges or Bergerac.
You are welcome to come earlier or stay longer.

Wonderful course, set in the beautiful surroundings of the French countryside.
I've been for the last couple of years, both beginner and advanced courses, I highly recommend.
Jonatan is a great teacher, I worked mainly in veg tanned leather, learning to hand 'saddle' stitch; wallets, sunglasses cases and an amazing tool case.
Accommodation in the beautiful manor house is included as well as spending time dining with fellow craftspeople, the photos don't do justice to how great the ancient workshop is.
I will be returning!

I did both the beginner and advanced courses earlier this year. Jonathan, who runs the course, lives, eats and breathes traditional leather working. He has a great amount of experience and starts right at the very beginning for those with little or no experience and adds on the various methods and techniques as your abilities develop. He is a great teacher and is very patient. It’s a really lovely setting in the heart of the Dordogne, with Jason and Kasia providing an environment that truly feels like a home from home as soon as you arrive. After a full day concentrating hard and learning new skills, the cosy living room with its huge fireplace is a lovely place to retire to and chat with the other students.
The course represents amazing value for money and I highly recommend that anyone who has an interest in leather working takes a serious look at this option. I know you won’t be disappointed. I enjoyed it so much that I’ll be going back to do the advanced course again and learn more about wet moulding and box stitching.
