About the Course
6 hour 'Introduction to Natural Dyeing' workshop, 10am-4pm, in the comfortable, creative space of Crispin Hall in Street, Somerset.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The workshop will teach you the basic principles and practice of natural dyeing using everyday kitchen and foraged dyestuffs. There will also be an introduction to indigo and over dyeing.
Spaces are limited to ensure you receive as much guidance as you need.
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those that have a little experience who would like some more practical guidance.
We like to work with as many sustainable materials as possible and, where possible, we try to source end of line and second hand materials that would otherwise go to waste.
You will be dyeing a range of natural yarns from hand spun recycled banana yarn to linen and organic cotton.
ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
Claudia, Ellie's mum, has been teaching English for over 30 years, specialising in prison education.
Building on a life long interest in fabric and dress making she teamed up with Elka textiles, to produce naturally dyed yarns for fashion and upholstery fabrics.
In response to many inquiries about natural dyeing, we are now delighted to be offering this 6 hour workshop.
