About the Course

Teaching plant based processes for natural dyeing, to create a variety of colours. The course includes: Fabric preparation processes: scouring, oiling, and plant based mordants. Working mainly with protein fibres, however you can use cellulose fibres in these recipes. Extracting colour from dye plants, adding fibres to dye baths. Working with modifiers to expand your colour spectrum. Creating and working with a fructose indigo dye vat. Using the vat to create blues, and over-dyeing for greens, purples, and browns.

What's included in the price?

You will be given access to learning resources including equipment list and a list of plants I have had success with, recipes, and colour swatches.
Two live interactive online demonstrations from my studio via Zoom. We will look at fabric, fabric preparations, dye plants, extraction processes, and dye processes, there will then be time for questions.
You will then have some time to explore the processes shared. You can join an online forum via slack for all participants of this course to share experiences, photos, results, and questions. We then will have a follow up group chat for sharing and further questions.
