Ellie was amazing at making everything easy from start to finish. She was patient and very good at explaining what to do. A great way to spend 3 hours.

Response from Elka:Hi Carolyn, i’m so glad you enjoyed the workshop and thank you for the lovey review! Very best wishes, Ellie
Ellie was very welcoming and friendly. Lovely venue. After demonstrating the basics and introducing us to our little personal baskets of tools and beautifully printed instruction leaflet over a cup of tea, we were let loose on a range of gorgeous fibres plus to weave with; chunky yarns, beautiful natural fibres which I would never have guessed were made from banana, rose plants etc, hand spun and hand dyed yarns, wire and even glittery fibres and pompoms. We were shown examples of previous makes and it was left to us to decide whether to weave a wall hanging, coaster or just weave and see what happened! I originally planned to make a coaster, but thought the opportunity to try out such lovely and unusual fibres available was too good to miss, so strayed a bit and just experimented with making shapes, very patiently guided by Ellie; and changing colours and fibres adding in a little fringe on the way. I was pleased to learn how to warp the loom and to take the piece off and finish it as I had only worked on a previously set up loom. Our creations were all very different and I think we were all pleased with what we had achieved. The three hours flew by. I very much enjoyed and would certainly recommend the workshop.

Such an enjoyable workshop last night. Ellie is very patient and so inspiring, a lovely lady. I came away with a finished wall hanging which I love. The yarns I used were beautiful and there was so much to choose from.
Lizzie - - #20285
Response from Elka:Hi Lizzie, thank you so much for the review. Really great to meet you. I'm so glad you enjoyed the workshop. Very best wishes, Ellie.
As I suffer with severe rheumatoid arthritis, particularly in my hands and arms, I approached this course with some trepidation. But I needn't have worried. Ellie was wonderful and so helpful and understanding enabling me to fully participate. The course was inspiring, so many interesting ideas so that each of us could work on our own ideas and produce a piece of work to our own tastes.
Roz Chapman - - #19563
Response from Elka:Thank you so much Roz for the review. It was a pleasure meeting you and i’m so glad you enjoyed the workshop. Very best wishes, Ellie
An amazing class enjoyed every minute, I learnt so much in just 3 hours,
P.s. The homemade madeleines were to die for, an added bonus as no one ever caters for celiacs.
Janet Hammerton - - #18321
Response from Elka:Hi Janet,
I recently attended one of Ellie's workshops with my daughter and it was brilliant ~ we both absolutely loved it. Ellie is so knowledgeable, kind and patient. She provided us all with tea and coffee upon arrival, which created a friendly welcome; it was also lovely to be able to sit down with a cup of something and settle into the class while she gave us some background knowledge on weaving. The equiptment and materials provided were beautiful. There was a real variety of different yarns and I had no idea that you could get a yarn made from rose, which is unbelievably soft! You are also able to purchase a loom which comes with clear instructions and photos (fantastic) put together by Ellie making it easy to take home and carry on weaving. This calss is a must for anyone interested in weaving. We shall definitely be attending another one in the future.
Chloe Harding - - #17879
Response from Elka:It was great to have you both there and i'm so glad you enjoyed it. Your weaving was fabulous!
I have never known three hours go so quickly! Ellie was a great teacher, knowing when to help and when to let us get on with it. There was a vast selection of different yarns and threads to use. I loved it so much I bought my loom. And the cake was delicious too!
Caroline Hadley - - #17733
Response from Elka:Hi Caroline,
Ellie provided an excellent introduction to frame loom weaving for beginners. A super selection of natural materials was available for the class to use, and help and encouragement was given when needed. There was an option to buy equipment at the end for those who wanted to continue with their piece of work. Three hours went very quickly (as did the delicious lemon cake!)
Thank you for an enjoyable morning Ellie, I would recommend this for beginners to weaving.
Clare Davie - - #17514
Response from Elka:Hi Clare,
I really enjoyed the course and learnt a lot - so that I can use the loom I bought from the course.
And the back-up afterwards was great too.
Anon - - #17508
Response from Elka:Thank you so much for the review :) Happy weaving!
Ellie is a lovely and enthusiastic tutor and I really enjoyed the workshop. My only suggestion would be perhaps not to offer drinks straight away so that she is on hand to welcome everyone and find out what made people want to come to the class and find out names. Once everyone got started there was a natural break to go and make teas etc. The choice of materials was excellent as was the equipment provided. I'm sure anyone wishing to learn a bit about weaving would benefit from this workshop.
Jane Rankine - - #17421
Response from Elka:Hi Jane thank you very much for the review. Apologies for being on tea duty when you arrived. I like to offer everyone refreshments on arrival as some have traveled several hours to get there. I have taken your comments on board and will make sure everyone has been introduced properly moving forwards. It was great to meet you and I'm glad you enjoyed working with all the materials.
It was a wonderful evening workshop. Both informative and enjoyable. We learned the basics of weaving and had enough time to create our own small wall hanging choosing from a great selection of materials provided by Ellie. I would definitely do more workshops.
claudine cullimore - - #17416
Response from Elka:Hi Claudie, thank you so much for the review. It was great to meet you and i'm very glad you enjoyed the workshop.
Great introduction to weaving. Ellie was a really friendly teacher, and the venue was beautiful. The yarns that Ellie supplied were really varied and beautiful, which made it easy to be creative. I'd recommend this course!
Rebecca Pitt - - #17409
