About the Course
Create a brilliant bag at Leather School that will be your constant companion
Who this course is aimed at:
Participants who want to create a one off craft item, or people who are interested in taking the first steps in leather making and may want to develop skills and go on to produce further work. It is suitable for enthusiastic beginners. The minimum age is 14.
What you will make and do:
We have created a pattern for an old-school satchel that enables you to learn lots of techniques and make a substantially sized bag to use every day. We use high quality vegetable tanned leather that makes the satchel solid and durable, which will age beautifully. We have a range of colours and finishes that give a variety of options for how each participant wants their bag to look from the exquisite to the functional.
What skills you will learn:
This course introduces some key leatherworking skills that will enable you to continue developing after the course. Specifically we will cover: how to mark out leather from a pattern, cut the leather, mark and punch holes for buckles, straps and attachments, use of rivets, edge burnishing and assembling your satchel using a stitching technique.
Leather School is part of the Tanner Bates professional leather studio, which means our courses are run by very highly skilled leather workers.
