Dunja lives and works on a traditional hill farm in the beautiful Black Mountains in South East Wales, easily accessible from most parts of the UK. From her studio she teaches spinning and weaving to beginners and advanced level. She has developed this new accredited unit in hand spinning to promote our intangible cultural heritage and raise the profile of this heritage skill. The fleece from her pedigree Clun Forest, Zwartbles and Lincoln Longwool sheep provide the raw material for her work, which includes commission spinning and weaving and supplying spinning and weaving equipment. When she’s not spinning, weaving, teaching or planning new courses (the Level 3 course in hand spinning is being launched in July 2017) she helps out on the farm and assists with showing pedigree Clun Forest and Zwartbles sheep at the larger county shows in Wales and the Midlands.

Such an interesting and well thought out, planned and run course. I was 100% beginner and left feeling well equipped to complete my course work and also spin wool well with practice. I hope to do the level 3 too. Dunja was really informative, patient and so knowledgeable. The course was very useful and fun too. Highly recommend.

This innovative course is very well planned and delivered. I enjoyed the two 'taught days' immensely and really feel that I have learned a lot. The learning was more in - depth, probably as a result of the need to focus for achieving accreditation. The homework set in between the two days certainly helped me to understand the spinning process in terms of twist and drafting and I certainly understand how to achieve a 'balanced yarn'! It was nice to analyse my spinning technique as I was practising. I am looking forward to completing my file and weaving my 'swatch'. As always Dunja is available for support throughout. Her knowledge and understanding of all the processes involved in turning fleece into fibre and fabric is such a resource in itself. An excellent course, I am certainly enjoying the challenge of spinning.
