I'm very proud to present a one of a kind hand made Chef's knife with a unique forced patina and dyed stabilised Karelian birch burl handle.
Steel = 1070 High Carbon Steel
Blade length = 7"/17.5cm
Blade width at deepest point = 2"/5cm
Handle length = 4.5"/11.5cm
After shaping the blade I heat treated and tempered it before moving on to hand sanding and it is presented with a forced patina finish. The knife has been sharpened to 4000grit, this steel produces a very durable, sharp knife and due to the quality of the steel it will hold its edge.
I made the handle from dyed stabilised karelian birch burl. This was fit using the traditional Wa dowel method before being shaped, hand sanded and oiled. The patina on the blade was created using mustard and ferric chloride to build up a unique, striking and distinctive pattern.
All my knives are made using the highest quality steel sourced in the UK and handmade in a forge in Yorkshire
