On this half-day workshop you can make a beautiful necklace, to your own design, using semi-precious stones. It takes a long time to build up a broad selection of stones and I have been fortunate to be able to collect and curate gems from all over the world. Now you can share my jewellery journey and choose stones from among my treasures to complete your piece.
If you have some stones of your own, or an old necklace, or a pendant that you would like to incorporate into your design, please do bring your own treasures along.
The course takes place in my studio at Bealings Barn, where you can enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Places are limited to 6 so that I can give lots of personal attention and guidance. Do let me know if you would like to arrange an event specially for you and your friends.
During the workshop you will:
• explore nature’s palette of semi-precious stones
• choose stones in colours that suit your natural colouring
• look at examples of different styles of necklace design
• select glass beads and findings to complete your project
• make your own unique necklace, in a length that sits in exactly the ‘right’ place around
At the end of the course you will take home your completed necklace. There is also an information pack about semi-precious stones and a list of jewellery-making suppliers.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
All tools, beading wire, and crimps are provided. You will need to pay for the semi-precious stones, glass beads and metal findings (clasp, spacer beads etc) you use. Each item will be individually priced so you can work out the cost of your design before you begin. Obviously, the total amount can vary a lot, depending on the size and number of stones you choose, but I suggest you allow £15 - £60 for materials on the day.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available throughout the morning. To finish off the day, lunch will be served, but you are also welcome to bring your own if you have special dietary requirements.
