About the Course

Furniture painting course at Lincoln Castle.

Is sophisticated ‘Gustavian Glamour’ your style?

18th century Gustavian style was all about ‘Painted furniture.’ It is considered one of the most beautiful interior design periods. 200 years on, the textures and hues continue to influence both modern and traditional living space and are very much at home in townhouse and country cottage. This workshop will enable you to identify a Gustavian Pallet bespoke to your own interior, before developing skills in layering and distress, crackle techniques, liming techniques and wax’s and also in motif work.

This course is suitable for beginners age 16 +. Please wear comfortable casual clothes which can get dirty, and closed toe shoes.

This course takes place at the Heritage Skills Centre at Lincoln Castle. Since 2013, the Centre has been offering hands on experience and training, offering a wide range of taster days, short courses and demonstrations in craft, conservation and traditional building skills.
