About the Course
To make the blacksmith knife you will heat a piece of 1055 steel in the gas/coal forge. Shape it with a hammer and anvil as well as drawing out the metal for the handle. The blade is tempered beforehand so that it is easier to work with. You will learn to bevel the knife edge and use a grinder, heat treat it in the forge and quench it.
Start time for the course is 9 am, finishing at 5pm. Courses are run every Friday.
Students must be at least 16 years of age, a parent or guardian must be in attendance for any minors.
You will learn the basics of blacksmithing and knifesmithing. All materials and tools are provided. You will take home your finished blacksmith knife.
