A playful workshop where you’ll make a mini felted animal, possibly inspired by your very own furry friends, or those of friends and family. Sculpting with wool can be a really fun way to bring animals to life. In this beginner friendly workshop we’ll use needle felting to bring wool to life as 3D miniatures of dogs or cats. These can be based on specific pets, or be characters of their own. You’ll be taken through the process in two main stages: building the body and then adding in finer details. You can apply this process if you ever want to make other animals in future, or more of the same! As we’re in the lead up to Christmas, these could make lovely decorations or gifts. There will also be the option to add festive inspired details for those that want to. This course is part of our up-skill and up-cycle series and generously funded by The Hugo Burge Foundation. For a multitude of reasons the world is not always a fair and balanced place. With that in mind, we recognise the economic disparity present and want to help remove financial barriers to learning. We can offer free places for those who are facing financial hardship. Our definition of financial hardship is those who are finding it hard to meet essential everyday costs such as food and shelter, those who may rely on benefits or who have been long term unemployed. All materials and tools needed. If you have a particular animal in mind we do recommend bringing a photo(s) to work from! Y Stiwdio is all on one level with a disabled accessible toilet.
There is parking either side of Y Stiwdio, also outside the chapel opposite. If no spaces are available, park in the lower section of the car park at Canolfan Hermon - 2 mins walk away here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8DiPQgFFtiB6XQWt7 It is essential that you do not park in front of residential houses.
