Electric guitar (6 String) Building day course

Description

On the 6 string electric guitar making course you will build a guitar from a ready made kit. I will be there to help with the following :- Neck setting, fret levelling, truss rod adjustment, string height and action, electric wires, wood finishing etc etc. This course is aimed at people with no experience with guitars or woodwork . At the end of the day you will take your new guitar home to enjoy. We have a very friendly workshop with all the tools necessary for you to complete the build in 7.5 hours plus 30 mins for lunch. Plus Plenty of Tea to drink at any point of the day.

Your kit guitar can be taken home at the end of the day. Free parking and security on site

My love of woodcraft was due to a meeting with a guitarist friend who had made an acoustic guitar. We talked about his guitar for many hours and I thought it would be a challenge for me to have a go! Well that was 6 years ago and now in 2023 I am in a small workshop in Stoke where I build various instruments. The Strumstick instrument build is a great way to get to grips with fine woodworking and is an ideal step towards acoustic guitar building. No experience in woodwork is needed.

"Excellent day with Ted. There was some work to do on the guitar kit supplied that was even ok for a DIY amateur like myself. Expertly guided by Ted throughout with tea, friendly chat between advice and knowledge regarding both the building and construction of guitars. At the end of the day I am sure Ted made my guitar sound far better then I ever will with my limited abilities. I would recommend this course without hesitation for anyone remotely interested in guitars and guitar construction."

"I had the most enjoyable day with Ted constructing a Telecaster Thinline which he especially ordered in for me. He explained every part of the construction stage by stage allowing me to do everything hands on line creating, cutting and sanding the headstock using the machinery, soldering the electrics and then setting up the guitar. Full attention to detail was offered including fret filing and getting the intonation correct. I learnt so much and as a keen guitarist it was great to be able to create my own to add to my collection. I have a bit of homework to do now as I want to reduce the chunky neck and apply a finish but Ted pointed me in the right direction giving me some great tips. Ted is such a great person and teacher. He made me feel very comfortable and though I am a novice when it comes to this sort of thing I actually felt very confident. I can’t recommend this course enough."

"Great fun and really interesting. Ted has a great knowledge of guitars and is full of tips and advice for newbies like me and lots of stories from when he was in bands.
