Dulcimer cigar box guitar at Greenwood Days

X

Description

Brian Crosbie local musician and instrument maker will guide you through the stages of making your own Appalachian dulcimer or cigar box guitar. You’ll design and make the sound box from modelling plywood and a neck from locally grown hardwood. You’ll string the neck and create sound holes and decoration using coping saws, craft knives and files. The remaining time on the second day will be taken up with lessons around the camp fire learning how to play your very own instrument. Greenwood Days have been running woodland craft courses since 1998. The course centre is set in a beautiful 90 acre wood in the National Forest on the Leicestershire/Derbyshire border.  Our tutors are all highly skilled professional craft workers and teachers who share our passion for preserving, promoting and passing on these crafts and techniques. Come and enjoy the beauty of the woodland, be inspired, be creative, learn a new craft.

What's included in the price?

Copious amounts of tea, coffee and biscuits. A lovely lunch with fresh home-made bread, soup of the day followed by fresh fruit.
