Description
On the Cigar box making course you will make a 3 stringed instrument sometimes called a Dulcimer due to the fret spacing. This instrument can be played acoustically but we will include a small internal pick up so you can play through the amplifier. The instrument will be tuned to DAD and it can be great fun using a bottle neck for slide guitar too. The instrument is 850 mm or 34 inches long and take about 7 hours to complete. The box size is approx 11 inch x 6 inch You can take home your instrument at the end of the day!

My love of woodcraft was due to a meeting with a guitarist friend who had made an acoustic guitar. We talked about his guitar for many hours and I thought it would be a challenge for me to have a go! Well that was 6 years ago and now in 2023 I am in a small workshop in Stoke where I build various instruments. The Strumstick instrument build is a great way to get to grips with fine woodworking and is an ideal step towards acoustic guitar building. No experience in woodwork is needed.
