"This four-day course was brilliant from start to finish. Ted is patient and clear in his teaching. He effortlessly adapts the course depending on your skill level and experience. You go home tired at the end of each day, but the days themselves fly by. You're having fun, learning lots, and putting the world to rights while you're at it. I went with zero woodworking experience apart from several hours spent on YouTube, but came home with working knowledge and experience of using various tools, producing various joints, and making two brilliant pieces (an intricate jewellery box my wife claimed immediately and a footstool my daughter has already put to use in the kitchen). Highly, highly recommended. If you're even remotely considering doing a course with Ted, stop thinking and start booking. You won't regret it."

"A really brilliant course by Ted, a skilled and knowledgeable craftsman. Before doing the course I found it hard to believe that I could make the strum stick dulcimer in just one day. But I did! Ted showed me every stage of the construction on a piece of scrap wood and then kept an eye on me when I completed the part on my dulcimer. "

"Thanks Ted I had an excellent day. Equally relaxing and informative, for me it was the equivalent of a wellness experience! As we discussed I’ve done lots of big projects but this has given me new skills for precision work and jointing without huge screws! Wood is great to work with, so rewarding. Have bought a few marking tools afterwards (pretty cheap!) that will make all the difference."

A great value course with excellent one-to-one tuition and a straight forward approach to explaining and demonstrating the necessary techniques. Really good fun all round and great to have another guitar to add to my collection at the end of the day! Highly recommended!"

"My son completed this course yesterday & has been playing his dulcimer today. Ted was lovely - friendly, patient, kind, & gave very clear instructions, including safety alerts & good practice. The workshop was really interesting & in a great location which was easy to find & had other interesting things to see while the workshop took place. There were lots of cups of tea & great conversation throughout the workshop. The techniques used to complete the dulcimer included using a band saw, belt sander, router, drill, gluing, handsanding, hand sawing, using clamps, hand tightening, oiling; careful measuring & marking, and more. It was a great introduction to lots of techniques and to instrument making. Thanks Ted! "

"Had a fantastic time today making a footstool! Booked the course with the wife since we both had zero woodworking experience beforehand and this looked like a good place to start, while being a fun day. Ted was absolutely brilliant, he talked us through the various steps, helped us out when things didn't quite go as planned (which when you've not used the tools before, will happen) and just generally made the day one to remember! We would highly recommend the course and would definitely book another in the future. Many thanks again to Ted!"
