This 1 day course is a great way to understand some of the finer woodworking needed to complete this Jewellery box. The box is made from Oak and Walnut inlay. We usually start with the 45 degree mitre saw and use some splines to add more strength to the corners. The table saw is used to make the grooves around the box and to create the walnut inlay in the centre. Later we will cut the lid off the box and fit the hinges etc, we will then sand all surfaces and finish with some Danish oil. You can now take home your beautiful new box.

My love of woodcraft was due to a meeting with a guitarist friend who had made an acoustic guitar. We talked about his guitar for many hours and I thought it would be a challenge for me to have a go! Well that was 6 years ago and now in 2023 I am in a small workshop in Stoke where I build various instruments. The Strumstick instrument build is a great way to get to grips with fine woodworking and is an ideal step towards acoustic guitar building. No experience in woodwork is needed.
