Chair Caning One Day Workshop

Explaining how the 'crossings' should lie.

A one day course to learn how to re-cane furniture using the 'six-way standard' with either a pegged or laced finish. Ideally bring your own piece but I can provide a frame to work on if required. This absorbing and very satisfying craft is one of my favourites! I was taught several decades ago by a caner in North Devon, completing 18 large dining chairs; a real baptism of fire!
We will work in my little unit on the outskirts of Chiseldon, a Wiltshire village within the North Wessex Downs AONB. Accommodation can be found locally within the village or in the historic town of Marlborough, a 20 minute drive away.

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

Tea & coffee and maybe a biscuit or two! All materials to work with during the day. Tools will be available to borrow or purchase. Additional materials can be taken home at cost.
