"I treated myself to this course as something to look forward to in autumn. It did not disappoint! I had done some framebuilding before, but have never worked with green woodworking tools, and using a shave horse was completely new.
The group was small, and people were lovely - perhaps there’s something about folk who are drawn to working with wood 😀.
We worked outside on day 1, working together to process a fresh ash log into what would become legs on our various creations. Following the whole process from log to finished item was brilliant. After making our legs, we chose a piece of timber for our table or stool. It was interesting learning about the different woods, and choosing a piece that would give character to our work.
Day 2 was so wet, but we were cosy and happy working inside the barn with its many work spaces and wood burner. Peter demonstrated each process before we got stuck in, ably supported by Toby, who helped us all over the two days.
I was amazed at what we all managed to achieve in just 2 days. All we have to do now is apply finish to our pieces.
I am delighted to have a shaped ash stool that’s the perfect height for practising my guitar.
Thank you to Peter and Toby for their knowledge, patience, encouragement and gentle manner, and to all the lovely people on the course who also made it so enjoyable. "
Peter Lanyon Furniture responded:
"Thank you Lou, it was a real pleasure to meet you..Glad you enjoyed the course, and I hope our paths will cross again. "
