Thomas Petit reviewed: The First Cut - lino cutting for beginners & rusty printmakers

"I was a total beginner . We tried out the tools and linos to see how they worked , you could really feel when you went too deep. I chose a fish design and Liz suggested all sorts of interesting ideas, I would never have. It was a great and informative class and I can’t wait to try some more! Once I’ve moved house I’m buying a kit. It was a lovely atmosphere and the people I did the class with were so enthusiastic . Despite all the Covid restrictions , we still had a great time and it was fascinating to see each other’s very different ideas and prints. Can’t recommend the course enough. Brilliant! I’ve recommended it to friends."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

" Hi Tom, It was lovely and good fun to have you here at The Slipper Studio and thank you for taking the time to review your day. Great to see your latest glass barens and that you had the chance to put them through their paces. Hope your move goes smoothly and you have the time to pick up a cutter in the near future. Best wishes Liz"

Lucy Kirby reviewed: Create with a gel printing plate in Derbyshire

"I would definitely recommend this workshop on gel plate mono printing. The demonstrations & practice were well planned & there was enough time Tom carry out tasks & reflect on them + little extras about ways to continue with particular pieces. Liz sent clear instructions prior to the course about what to bring & I liked the fact I didn’t have to bring any art equipment or come with images of what I wanted to do. The venue & studio is beautiful & functional & provided plenty of working space."

Liz Wellby - Artist, Teacher & Maker responded:

" Hi Lucy, Thanks for taking the time to review your day and I’m really pleased that you would recommend a workshop at The Slipper Studio. Gel plate printing is a great process and I am sure that you will find it a really useful way to continue your creative work, with a particular focus on a mixed media approach. Happy printing. Best wishes Liz Wellby"

"I had a really enjoyable day learning the creative and spontaneous technique of Gel Plate printing. Liz is a most excellent teacher. She delivers with great enthusiasm and clarity and her subject knowledge is vast. The day was really well paced. We learned several techniques using a variety of resources. I felt confident to experiment due to Liz's feedback and reassurance throughout the day. I particularly enjoyed the freedom of playing with different colour combinations and palettes outside of my usual comfort zone. I look forward to taking these techniques further into Textiles and maybe using some of the backgrounds that I created for drawn monoprints or Lino. Thank you Liz for a truly inspirational day. I highly recommend this workshop."
