Jeanette reviewed: Wood turning courses

"Thank you for a really great wood turning experience day. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed the day or how pleased I am with with my bowl, but I will try. I arrived feeling quite anxious about being able to produce anything at all, as I had no experience and had never been anywhere near a lathe. Your explanations, demonstrations, patience and guidance gave me confidence. Along with the excellent tuition it was a really enjoyable and fun experience, we had a great time with you and Sue, you both made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We were well looked after, Sue made us a lovely lunch which was much appreciated and we were kept going throughout the day with regular cups of perfect tea. On top of all of that I am now the very proud owner of a bowl that is of a much better quality and more beautiful than I ever thought I was capable of making. I will treasure it. Thank you very much George and Sue"

Zoe Thorn reviewed: Hand stitched leather laptop case

"I had a fabulous day making the leather laptop case with Rosanna in her workshop in Kent. Beautiful surroundings for a great and informative day. Rosanna is a great teacher; very patient and a very talented maker. I learnt a number of essential leather stitching techniques as well as many finishing techniques such as embossing and edging to make my final piece look stunning. I love my laptop case and I cannot wait to try out my newly learnt skills again. A highly recommended and fun day! She makes a mean quiche too ;-)"

Roger reviewed: Wood turning courses

"Just arrived home after a really good day wood turning with George and his lovely wife Susan. The amount of information that George gave us was spot on. It started with an outline of the health and safety to be complied with whilst in the workshop. There was an explanation of the make up of the wood we were going to use and the way it reacts on the lathe. It wasn't all instruction , it was also a really good laugh as George is a natural entertainer . But as a result we came away with two really nice fruit bowls. Susan was lovely and looked after the refreshments for the day. Very important as you really do have to concentrate on what your doing. All n all a brilliant day, and I would really recommend it. Thanks to Susan and George."

"Dear Jason, Thank you very much for the extremely engaging and valuable course. We both looked for a new craft skill that we could reward ourselves for a birthday weekend and this fit the bill beautifully. As a teacher your guidance and knowledge really allowed us to plan a functional and personalised bag that was achievable in the 2 days. It was such an eye-opening and life changing experience in a beautiful setting. What a lovely way to spend a summers weekend!"

"I really enjoyed the one day dry stone wall building course. John was very informative and supportive as a tutor and I have to say that the group built some walls that you would be proud of. The site is very central, peaceful and presents a great view of the shard and other local skyscrapers. I'd highly recommend the course to anyone who would like to try something a bit different and the fees help in the upkeep of the hidden gem that is cross bones cemetery. Well done to John and all the other volunteers that donate their time!"

Sue Bryant- Sharples reviewed: Landscapes in Fleece

"I can honestly say this is one of the best courses I have been on. Sally Ann is a great teacher and it shows. I'm not the most gifted person at craft work, lose patience easily but was able with her teaching to complete two light holders. Wonderful that she is helping to keep this ancient craft going. Thank you Sally Ann and your hubby for the cuppa and refreshment. Sue Bryant- Sharples"

Julie Bancroft reviewed: One inspiring day of mono printing from nature in artists studio near York

"I had a lovely day and would strongly recommend this workshop to anyone with an interest in printing. We were given clear guidelines and instructions but encouraged to experiment and go our own way too. Emily is a great tutor; really well prepared, making even complex processes seem straight forward, and unfailingly positive. I went as a complete beginner and by lunchtime had signed up for the two day extension course. The facilities are great and Emily encourages a relaxed, informal atmosphere that meant it was really enjoyable."

Lynne Hartley reviewed: Introduction to silver jewellery making workshop with Diane Lee

"Just back from THE most amazing day here! On arrival we were in awe of the studio. It's a well stocked aladins cave and I felt like a kid in a sweet shop. There were five of us in the workshop, and we all hit it off straight away, with one another and Diane. Diane is a lovely, friendly and welcoming lady, with an amazing talent. Not only is she extremely knowledgeable in her craft, but she can teach those skills to a bunch of novices and ensure that they take home stunning pieces of their very own handcrafted metal work jewellery. Can't wait for more dates as I'm definitely booking a return visit!"

Rebecca Lloyd reviewed: Introduction to silver jewellery making workshop with Diane Lee

"Brilliant class - couldn't have asked for better! 4 of us in the class and by the end, we were laughing and joking like we'd know each other all our lives. It was such a lovely atmosphere :) I'm a bit of a wuss when it comes to sawing/drilling (basically using anything that could potentially hurt me if things went awry!) but thanks to the support and expert guidance from Diane, by the end I was happily sawing and drilling away with the rest (and gazing lovingly at my new rings and earrings!) It was a fantastic day and I would honestly recommend it to anyone :) Thanks Diane, it was well worth the long trip ;D"
