Stephanie reviewed: Garden Sculpture Course

"I absolutely LOVED this course and highly recommend to anyone and everyone who fancies exploring their creativity! I have always wanted to explore metalworking and creating sculptures and when I came across the course for garden sculpture I was super enthused. I love gardening and to create my own pieces was a joy. Billy is a consummate professional and a great instructor. Having just two of us on the course meant we got a lot of training and input from the first instruction on what the day would hold to how the forge worked, working the metal through to welding. I loved every minute and will definitely be looking for more opportunities to create more garden sculptures. Between Billy and Stu, my co-learner and I were learning and creating all day. The icing on the cake was the beautiful location, nestled in the trees. A truly mindful, joyful day"

Bill's Workshop responded:

"Hi Stephanie, I'm thrilled you had such a joyous and creative day with us! It was a pleasure to teach someone so enthusiastic and energetic about sculpture and getting to grips with the art form. You are welcome back anytime! Take care and keep crafting! - Billy"

Laura Lovell reviewed: 2 Day Woodturning Course for Beginners

"This is such a great course. The two days passed in a flash and I have learned so much. I haven't done any woodturning for over 30 years but am keen to get back into it and this course was just what I needed. The pace was great, with Mick explaining each part of the process and then giving us adequate time to complete that part before moving onto the next stage. He covered so much content but never overwhelmed us and we were able to go at our own pace. We made 4 great pieces and got to use high spec tools and equipment, including really good PPE so we felt safe at all times. The class numbers are small so there is the opportunity to ask lots of questions and have the support you need to get the most out of the day. Mick's workshop is well organised and spacious and he has lots of different equipment available. I've had a fabulous couple of days and would definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn more about woodturning. Mick is great at tailoring his tuition to your needs so whether you are a beginner or someone who wants to further their woodturning skills, this is the course for you."

Cheshire Woodturning and Workshop Training Limited responded:

"Hi Laura Many thanks for your kind words. I'm so glad you felt such benefit from the course because you put a lot of effort into the two days and produced some beautiful finished products. I know you are keen to pursue the craft further at home and you have now got a solid foundation in place to make a good start. Please keep me posted! Thanks Mick"

Dominic Ellis reviewed: 2 Day Woodturning Course for Beginners

"Fantastic two day starter course. Mick’s purpose built workshop is excellent for teaching and turning. Mick is very good at explaining concepts and techniques. He provides attendees with latitude to express their design creativity whilst balancing that with help where needed. My fellow attendee and I had virtually personal tuition with top of the range equipment. We each created 4 artefacts that looked as though we were semi-pros. All of this down to Mick’s coaching and guidance. I would highly recommend this course to all newbies to woodturning. "

Cheshire Woodturning and Workshop Training Limited responded:

"Hi Dom Many thanks for taking the time to write such a positive review of the course, particularly straight after such a long drive home! You worked really hard and I enjoyed watching you develop as a turner. Your finished products were great. I look forward to you updating me on your progress with your home set up and newfound skills! Thanks Mick "

"What a fabulous afternoon learning how to Mosaic with Michelle. She's got a lovely studio in her garden and was very patient and encouraging with us and had a fantastic selection of tiles, colours and patterns to choose from. We have done a lot of craft courses before and this was definitely one of the best. We want to come back and do some more mosaics to add to our collection! Michelle was also super flexible with workshop times, which was much appreciated. Would thoroughly recommend to any beginner or experienced crafters alike."

Lynfa reviewed: Lino printing landscapes

"A wonderful workshop with a talented artist who judged the skills of each participant perfectly. Coupled with working from their artist studio amidst the sunny hills of the Bannau Brycheiniog it was simply perfect. Thank you for infusing me with your energy and passion. I'll be back to do more very soon. Thanks Lee. P.S. If I wanted to touch up small areas, what medium would you recommend I use on the lino print please?"

Lee Wright Artist responded:

"Thanks Lynfa, I'm glad that you enjoyed the day. So did I :) You can use coloured pencils to touch up small areas once the prints are dry, If that doesn't give you enough oomph then small amounts of paint or pen may work. "

Kate Piper reviewed: Crafty Basketry's Willow Lampshade - Day Course at Paddock Art Studios, Lewes

"Thank you Marianne, I loved the day I had weaving my own lampshade on Saturday. Having no experience you were patient, calm and so knowledgeable about the craft. I felt great at leaving with something I had made that is both beautiful and useful! She's up and in my living room, admired. It's a very meditative experience and extremely satisfying. I plan to be in touch about further willow weaving days, especially cloche and plant climbing structures. I've passed on your details to others that I think would enjoy. Thanks again :)"

Crafty Basketry responded:

"Thanks so much for your amazing review, Kate! It was a great pleasure to teach you. Lots of times, I teach people that would like to do the craft as an experience and of course they'll have a great time, but from time to time I'm blessed with people like you, who find that they really take to this craft and are very eager to learn more. To get more people to start becoming a basketmaker, so the craft will continue its journey is just the best feeling and to have seen you totally in your element is absolutely wonderful! Look forward to the next time, with your friends."
