Sarah McCreanor reviewed: Two day stone carving course at Murton Park

"I booked the course as a birthday present and we had a fabulous time. We were absolute beginners and Miranda was brilliant, she explained each step of the stone sculpting and the choice of project was excellent. It was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and Miranda was on hand throughout to offer advice and direction. We left with completed sculptures that look great. We would absolutely love to attend another of Miranda's courses, and throughly recommend them."

Amerton Arts Studio responded:

Thomas and Sukanya reviewed: Autumn theme Everlasting wreath workshop

"I would describe Iulia's workshop as peaceful, tranquil and personal. We were complete beginners at wreath making and a little apprehensive but were soon put at ease by Iulia's calm and professional demeanor. The space has a strong Autumnal vibe with plenty of examples of wreaths around to draw inspiration from. At least 20-30 different options of dried grass seeds, flowers and plants of all colours to choose from, me and my partner ended up making very warm and distinctive wreaths for the lounge wall and back door window"

Peter Howell-Jones reviewed: Craft Your Own Shave Horse

"Had a great day with Matt on this 'make your own shave horse' course – it was excellent. Matt is such an encouraging and supportive teacher. My confidence working with unfamiliar tools grew enormously as the day went on, so much so that I came away with a rather splendid shave horse! Everything about the day was splendid and worked well - the arrangements prior to the day, timings on the day, the venue was inspiring, and Matt makes a great cuppa! I have now hesitation encouraging others to give it a try. No matter what your skill level Matt will guide you throughout your day and help you leave believing you could really make this your number one hobby! Thanks Matt for a great experience. Now to buy my own tools … "

Manor Wood responded:

"Hi Peter, thank you for your lovely review! It was great to have you at Manor Wood, so glad you enjoyed the course, looking forward to seeing what you create at home! Hope to see you again, Matt"

She explains things well and spends time with the less able students to ensure they have a good experience. She has her own sheep and can explain the whole process based on her experience. Would definitely recommend. "

Pip Widdas reviewed: Explore Intaglio Printing - Tetra Pak Printing in Derbyshire

"I had a great day at Liz's Intaglio Tetrapak workshop. Liz provides excellent tuition and encouragement in her lovely studio surrounded by beautiful objects and images. Everything is explained clearly, and although I all came with my own ideas, she helpfully pointed me in the right direction when necessary (!). We were looked after in a relaxed and fun atmosphere with plenty of cups of tea and biscuits. I made several prints which I am very happy with, and am inspired to try some more at home. Thank you, Liz!"

You bring a lovely energy to the day and lots of great ideas, which are always developed to a very high standard. You really should buy a press, as you’ll get so much use from it. Keep coming back, as you keep me on my toes! Best wishes Liz Wellby"
