Learn how to make your very own needle felted toadstools from the comfort of your own home, under the tuition of Gretel Parker, who has been a practising needle felt artist since 2008. This workshop is aimed at anyone who wants to try their hand at needle felting, either complete beginners, or with some experience.
The toadstool you will be making during the live workshop will be quite small, (2-3 inches) to enable a ‘start to finish’ project in the two hours. I will be working alongside you with my hands on screen most of the time, so that you can see clearly how I work. I will, of course, be able to answer any questions you have throughout.
Gretel Parker is a seasoned workshop holder with many years of experience and the author of ‘Little Needle-Felt Animals’, published by Harper Collins, 2014. She has worked as a freelance pattern designer for the popular craft magazine ‘Mollie Makes’, with three front cover features, as well as other magazines, including ‘Crafty’ and ‘Craft Seller’. Her patterns are also included in ‘Mollie Makes Christmas’, ‘Mollie Makes Birds’ and ‘Mollie Makes Weddings’.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
Your toadstool kit contains a selection of merino wools (three ‘cap’ colours, two ‘stalk’ colours and and a small amount of green for grass effects) plus four needles on a card holder, two size 40 spirals, for starting off and general work and two size 42 triangulars for fine work and finishing off. This is more than enough wool for the workshop piece and with plenty left over to practise more in your own time, when we are finished.
A felting sponge or mat to work on. (A piece of dense foam of any kind will be fine to use).
A Zoom account - please familiarise yourself with the basic working if you have never used Zoom before. I will contact you a day beforehand with a password and meeting number.
If you are turning your toadstool into a hanging decoration, you will need matching thread and a needle.

I can’t remember the last time a couple of hours flew by so quickly. Gretel is not only a lovely, patient teacher but also has inspired me to continue with this fascinating craft. I’ve signed up to do her robin workshop too - can’t wait! Highly recommended.
Learn from the best! I absolutely loved my online class with Gretel - as well as being a wonderfully talented artist she's a great teacher, able to explain things in different ways until you understand. I found working through Zoom very comfortable and easy - Gretel is able to switch her camera so you can see a close up of her hands and can describe exactly the subtle feel of what you're after. I was delighted with what I could achieve and would highly recommend the class.
Response from Gretel Parker:Thank you very much, I’m so glad you enjoyed it and I had fun too. Your toadstool turned out beautifully!
