Description
This workshop will help you produce a natural hedgerow flower basket and develop new skills. An ideal shape for picking flowers or herbs in the garden, this basket is suitable for newcomers to willow weaving. Jane Roberts will lead this fun workshop and demonstrate each stage of the process. The design uses buff willow and a variety of other natural materials including ivy, forsythia, dogwood and lime suckers. During the workshop, a session on making cordage will take place, and that will then be incorporated in the weave of the basket. The cordage will be made out of rush and other suitable fibres which will be prepared and ready to use. This heritage craft is easy paced. There is ample time to learn new skills and make a basket to take home or to give as a gift. The course will take place in our Traditional Barn at Stanwick Lakes, a beautiful 750 acre nature reserve and visitor attraction in the heart of Northamptonshire’s Nene Valley.
