In this introductory online workshop you will be taught some basic stitches and work a small band that can be made into a card, postcard, bookmark or needle case. You will also see how you can vary the design and how it can be used to create larger pieces.
Swedish weaving or Huck embroidery was traditionally worked to create beautiful borders on table and bath linens and clothes such as aprons. Although its origins can be traced back as far as the 15th Century, it has a wonderfully contemporary quality to it and is perfect for creating decorative items from wall hangings and cushions to cards and small gifts.
Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.
The workshop will start with an informative slide presentation before learning some sample stitches. After lunch the main embroidered piece will be started. There will be 4 hours of teaching and stitching with half an hour for lunch. Towards the end of our time together you will be shown how to finish your piece off, given instructions on how to make it up into a variety of items and how to take the design further. Examples of my own work will also be shown.

Sarah has a lovely personality, is kind and caring. She is an inspiring patient tutor. Since I did a First Steps Course I have gone on to make up my own designs and have lots of fun doing it. When I first looked at Sarah's work I said 'I could never do that'! I'm rather addicted to it now!! Glad I got over myself!
