Embellish with letter stamps to add your own (secret) message or decoration. You will learn how to cut, shape, stamp and solder. This one-day workshop offers a great introduction to silversmithing, or the chance to brush up existing skills. Design the perfect gift for a loved one or your own special keepsake. Tutor: Kate Watson Kate studied Silversmithing and Jewellery Design at Sheffield Hallam University and went on to work for a leading contemporary jewellery company. She has been a teacher for 12 years. She now runs her own Studio/Gallery in Belper, Derbyshire, developing her own jewellery collections and working to commission. Start: Join us from 9.30am for tea/coffee and introductions. This workshop involves the handling and soldering of metals. It requires the use of sharp tools, heat and chemicals. Noise levels will be high at times. Protective goggles and earplugs will be provided. Every effort will be made to keep the studio environment safe and well ventilated with clear safety briefings given. • Purpose built studio in beautiful Peak District setting • Relaxed, creative atmosphere • 6 - 8 students per workshop • Open to both beginners and those with experience • Good fresh food, homemade cakes • Accommodation on site and nearby if required • Private groups welcome (minimum 5 people) Please get in touch for bookings or further information.
What's included in the price?
Fee includes professional tuition, lunches and refreshments. An additional materials fee applies: Sterling silver sheet and wire are available to purchase on the day. The price will be determined by the weight of the items you choose to make. There is also a small cover charge for consumables of £5 per person. The materials cost for most rings is approximately £5 - £15; for most bangles, £10 - £20. A tasty light lunch is included in the course fee. Let us know of any special dietary needs. Drinks and biscuits are available all day to help yourself with home-made cake mid afternoon. Accommodation available at extra charge: 'Godfrey Hole Cottage' - On site. 2 bedrooms.
