Join experienced jeweller/goldsmith Lindsay Forbes, jeweller and founder of Laconic jewellery, as she guides you through this beginners course to make a silver ‘loopy’ necklace. Learn how to cut and shape wire into circles (you can choose a more organic design if you prefer) which will then be connected to create your desired necklace.
In this course, you’ll learn how to make your own wire jump rings, how to shape and form these into round links, how to connect these together using soldering and you’ll also learn a basic chain maille technique to create a ‘mobius flower’. Once your chosen design has been polished you’ll learn how to attach basic findings to complete your necklace chain and attach your pendant in your desired way.
In this course, you will practise using copper wire to experiment with shape and get used to using the basic tools. Once you’ve learned the techniques you’ll choose which design you prefer to commit to making in sterling silver. You can expect to make x1 silver necklace complete with the chain length of your choosing.
