About the Course
What to expect:
Learn the basics of painting on silk, including several easy and fun techniques to create beautiful patterns and effects.
What to bring:
All necessary materials will be provided.
What will you create on the day:
Two lovely, hand painted pieces of silk. You will leave them with me to dry and they can be collected 48 hours later or posted out to you. If you would like one of your silks to be sewn into a notebook cover, there will be an additional £6 to pay on the day.
None at all. This is a beginners workshop and no previous experience of silk painting is necessary at all.
Number of places:
There are 7 spaces available for this course. With such a small number of us, everyone will get plenty of one-to-one time and have the opportunity to ask any questions or queries as they come up.
Access to venue:
The workshop room that we'll be using for the afternoon is up a flight of stairs and I'm afraid there is no lift. Feel free to contact me if you need further information or specific details.
There is no parking at this venue. The nearest car park is the Shambles Q-Park, a 4 minute walk away. If you are coming to York via train, the station is about 15 minute walk away or a 10 minute taxi ride.
If you would like one of your silks to be sewn into a notebook cover, there will be supplementary £6 charge which can be paid on the day by cash or cheque.
Booking your place:
To book a place on one of my workshops, please send me an email via the contact form above with your name, which workshop you would like to attend and your email address.
If there is anything that you’d like to ask, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.
What's included in the price?
Included in the price are all the tools and materials needed to create two beautiful pieces of hand painted silk.
Tea, coffee, cordial and biscuits will also be provided throughout the session.
Well it's an absolute joy to do one of Kat's courses. She has prepared well and everything is well organised which gives them a very relaxed feeling. Great to go to on your own or as a group maybe to celebrate some special occasion. Suitable for old and young she has time to spend on everyone. There is enough guidance given but room for everyone to take it to the level that is right for them. You finish the session having made something special and very personal. Also sge gives you i nformation on how the continue the craft if you w ish to afterwards. Well done Kat

Absolutely fantastic course, could not have asked for a better teacher! Super friendly and knowledgeable, Kat explained every stage in detail but also sought to maximise our practical time. Really pleased with our work and can't wait to try another one of Kat's courses. A fab way to spend an afternoon - good for the soul!

First experience with silk paints and I really enjoyed it. Kat is a nice teacher with a lot of patience and willingness to help. Fantastic way to spend an afternoon, I found it very calming painting away with the radio on in the background. More importantly, you come away with lovely pictures that you can treasure/frame/give as gifts. Would definitely do again/has inspired me to get some of my own supplies to do in my spare time.
