'Rainbow Highland Cow' Painting Workshop with Sue Gardner

Bright and colourful Highland Cow painting workshop. Venue - St Helens Church Heritage Centre, 3 Lower Church St, Ashby-de-la-Zouch LE65 1AA All the materials needed for the day are provided. Spend the day with me painting, learning and socialising with a small group of like-minded artists and take home your original version of one of my rainbow ‘Highland Cow paintings, size 45 cm x 60 cm on canvas. This workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers alike. We will be colour mixing, doodling,mark-making and painting expressively to create a fabulous and vivid Highland Cow like the ones shown. The venue is a beautiful hall on a historic site, purpose-built for events and classes. We are painting in a large airy, well-lit room, with big glass sliding doors opening onto the beautiful garden, which has seating areas for lunch on a fine day. We begin at 10 am and paint till 4 pm with breaks for coffee/tea, cake and lunch. Wear clothing that doesn't mind a bit of paint/an apron, and get ready to have fun, relax and learn. Parking is available in a small free car park nearby and at various town car parks.

All materials - Paints, table easels, palettes, brushes etc. light refreshments (coffee, tea and cake/biscuits) and a buffet lunch.

Maker
I am a professional artist, specialising in animals and nature subjects. I have been offering workshops and demonstrations for 18 months, and they have been very popular. It is important to me that each person who comes to one of my courses feels comfortable and can work at their own pace. The focus is on building up your techniques to allow you to really loosen up and paint with confidence. I love hearing from my students who are happily taking their painting forward following a workshop and getting great results too. As an artist, I work in oils, acrylics and mixed media. My use of colour can be surprising and quite bright! My rainbow cow painting is on the cover of Artists and Illustrators' March 2023 edition.
