Rag rug making

A pig in a field rag rug!

My name is Julie and I'm an accredited Senior Journeyman in decorative art with the Waterways Craft Guild and I have been teaching narrow boat decoration and crafts for over 12 years.

My training course will take place in the log cabin in my garden. The content of the course will be to design and begin making a “progged” rag rug using traditional rag rugging techniques.

After lunch, I will also teach you to have a go at making a Christmas rag rug wreath with a variety of coloured fleece material in Christmas colours!

At the end of the course you will have the knowledge to design and create your own progged rag rug and know how to make a rag rug wreath. You will learn where to purchase the correct specialist tools and materials.

Please bring with you any old clothes you can cut up and use, t-shirts, fleeces/fleece material and jogging bottoms are good because the material doesn't fray.

No previous experience is necessary and you don't need to be good at craft, come along and have a go, make new friends and have some fun!

Cancellation and a full refund can be obtained up to 2 weeks before the course starts. Start dates may be amended on request.

What's included in the price?

All materials are included in the course cost, hessian, a rag rugging tool and wooden gauge to take home with you, use of dress making scissors and rags if you don’t have any. There will be handouts and instructions for you to take away together with your started rag rug, and a completed rag rug wreath project. Lunch and drinks are also included.

Materials and tools to take home will be available for you to purchase on the day.
