About the Course
For many this is the ultimate photographic print. With it’s delicate, broad range of tones and archival permanence it gives added value and is number one for the serious collector.
You will learn about paper types, the chemicals involved, coating the paper and exposing and developing the print. On the 2nd day you learn how to create digital negatives. You will leave with 3 or 4 Platinum/Palladium prints and their negatives made during the workshop.
You will be taught one to one by Richard Freestone, a professional Platinum printer with an international clientele.

Richard is an accomplished photographer in his own right and this is reflected in his approach to print making. Some of his own prints are stunning and show just what can be achieved using this method. He is an excellent teacher who skilfully took me through the process from making and assessing a negative to touching up any minor defect on a finished print. It is a very 'hands on' course and I had produced a finished print by the end of the first day. Richard is very generous with his technical knowledge, even sharing some of his own adjustment curves and print settings. More importantly though is Richard's creative, painstaking and meticulous encouragement to produce very fine prints. He really is a master at his craft and I can't think of any better way to learn the art and science of platinum/ palladium printing. I fully intend to continue to experiment with the process and I would strongly recommend this course to anyone who is interested in producing the best possible prints from their work.

I did a one day workshop with Richard a year or so ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had previous experience and Richard was a knowledgeable instructor taking care to go into details. I would have preferred longer on making digital negatives but as it was only one day we concentrated on the actual print making. A very enjoyable and worthwhile day.

I am a professional photographer and took this course last year. Richard was great to work with and I learnt some wonderful tips and techniques on the course related to platinum printing. It was a great thing to see a platinum print come to life for the first time from start to end. I would recommend this course for anyone starting off to professionals, Richard can take you through all the processes and I can guarantee you will enjoy the course and leave with the knowledge to proceed forward in your projects. Now I would even call Richard a friend, as I go forward with my salt and platinum printing and share experiences in this niche world that we are so passionate about producing the ultimate image. Thanks again Richard.

I had been looking to take a platinum palladium printing course for a while but couldn't find one suitable until I came across Richard's website. The quality of his prints blew me away. This is a great one to one workshop, relaxed and very informative. I don't think any of my questions went unanswered and I asked a lot. I came away with the knowledge that Richard had set me on the correct path and I'm now producing my own platinum palladium prints successfully. If you are looking to add to your photography skills this is one workshop that needs to be covered.

I took this private course a little over a year ago. This has been a life changer for me. It was so inspiring that I decided to start printing myself and start a small darkroom. I simply fell in love with the process and this has to do with Richard, the instructor, who took his time to thoroughly explain every step. Any question I had was also answered fully and I would recommend this course to anyone.
