A one day workshop making needle felted animals at New Brewery Arts in Cirencester
Different animal for each workshop.
June Red Panda
I will guide you through the process from a blob of fluff to a creature with character and charm that you are proud of. I will cover all the basics of how to needle felt, using wire, features, ears, types of wool and needles and equipment.
As an experienced teacher I can guide the most nervous to the experienced wishing to try something new. Relaxed small groups with plenty of chat and tea.
I don't use patterns but guide you in the process of creating your own style of animal, so you leave with a beautiful individual creation that has your character and not a carbon copy of mine. If that sounds nerve wracking, don't worry, I have examples for you to copy to get going and will show you every step of the way.

Karin has a very relaxed approach to teaching. Telling you wamt you need to know then keeping a watchful eye on all participants. Youre allowed to create your own version of the animal being taught. Thats very important to Karin, you should be proud of what you take home.
It was a wonderful, fun day. I recommend a Celestine and the Hare course to everyone wanting to have a go at needle felting, or wanting to hone their skills.
I had a wonderful day needle felting a panda last year. I'd never done needle felting before, but Karin is such a knowledgeable and supportive teacher that when I got home I had the skills, confidence and inspiration to continue making more little animals of my own. I loved being in the company of Karin and her family of magical, felted creatures, met some lovely people and enjoyed the day immensely.
Karin Celestine is a fabulous teacher, a great story teller and makes her workshops immense fun to attend. Do go to one, you won't regret it.
Karin is a brilliant teacher and great fun to be with. I loved my day with her making a needlefelted panda. Her instructions are very clear and we all made a panda to be proud of!
I have now been on two of Celestine and the Hare's one day needle felting workshops. Both were excellent, mostly because of Karen's great skills as a tutor and the incredible degree of thought that she has put into structuring the processes in a way that enabled us all to realise our inner Dormouse while gaining the skills and the confidence to go on to try other creatures. And I will be back for more of these happy, entertaining and deeply enjoyable days while learning I am capable of things I never expected.
Response from Celestine and the Hare:Thank you Jenny! So lovely to see you again. Love your dormouse.
I absolutely loved my day making a dormouse! Thank you, Karin, for making the workshop such fun. It was wonderful that everyone worked in their own way with Karin's support and guidance - and everyone ended the day with their own unique and glorious little felted creature. What I enjoyed the most about the course was the spirit of creativity and the freedom to just have a go and see what happened! I feel totally enthused and am absolutely delighted with my little dormouse.
Response from Celestine and the Hare:Thank you! It was a pleasure to have you along
We had the most wonderful day making our Teacup Dormice all in the very pleasant company of Karin and other felters. Learned a great deal from a very talented and natural teacher. xxxxx
Response from Celestine and the Hare:Thank you, so lovely to have you both there and happy birthday too!
Karin is an amazing teacher - I never thought I'd be able to make something I love so much, as it was my first time needle felting. It was a hugely enjoyable day and I can't wait to go on another one!
Response from Celestine and the Hare:Thank you so much, was fab to have you there and loved your dormouse!
Total beginner to needlefelting but Karin taught with such clarity that I never felt at any stage overwhelmed. A truly fabulous day with a superb outcome - I’m now a complete addict!! Thank you so much Karin!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Karin is such a great teacher. This was my second course with her and I am always amazed at the talent she brings out of people even when they have never needlefelted before, everyone achieves success and a creature they will be proud to show to everyone. I had a lovely day surrounded by a friendly group all earnestly trying to complete their challenge.
I hadn’t done needle felting before but managed to produce a piece with more than a passing resemblance to a squirrel. A very interesting, fun and relaxed day.
I really enjoyed the day with Karin. She is an excellent teacher and shares her expertise generously. I have a fair amount of experience with needle felting but felt that I learned so much. It is so good to find new ways of doing things and use different fibres. The other people on the course were fun and the conversation flowed too. We were treated with cake, tea and coffee in between the felting.
I would recommend the courses to anyone, whether a total beginner or someone with experience, as Karin works in a way that benefits all.
I've done workshops with Karin before and always learn something new!
Her teaching style is relaxed and fun, and works equally well for complete beginners and people who've done some felting before.
I really enjoyed making a squirrel.
Yet another fantastic workshop!
I absolutely LOVED my day with Karin and a lovely group of enthusiastic ladies, in a beautiful setting, with delicious food!!! Can’t think of a more heavenly way to spend a day!! We all created some magical dormice too, each with their very own character. I’ve called mine Aphid. I now need to create some friends for him!... when’s the next workshop???!! ☺️
This was my first course with Karin and I will definitely be going back again! Everything was so well organised and such fun to do too. It did not matter if you had previous needlefelting experience or not because Karin is such a responsive and adaptable teacher, everyone received teaching and support that was specific to them. We all completed our Pandas and everyone was really proud of their achievements. It was such a friendly occasion too, lots of chat and giggling and a lovely atmosphere. I would reccomend this wholeheartedly :)
If you have an opportunity to go on a Celestine and the Hare course, take it! I've been a fan of her creatures for some time and was delighted to attend a course for the first time this weekend. Karin Celestine is a brilliant teacher who oozes talent and gives you kind and gentle encouragement. Everything is explained clearly and simply, step by step, with plenty of laughter and fun along the way. Perfect for beginners and more experienced felters. Book one now - you won't regret it!
A fun course to do and the end result is a lovely animal to take home
This is the second workshop I've attended with Karin. I loved them both. A sheep made on the first and an Easter rabbit on the second. Karin teaches needle felting in a way that anyone can enjoy the process. It's fun and a lovely way to meet like minded crafters. I'm now hoping Karin will be able to do a two day workshop at Book ish in Crickhowell soon.
I did this one day workshop having no knowledge of needlefelting or working with wool. I joined it because I adore the little creatures made by Celestine and the Hare, so I decided to have a go. Oh my this is so much fun!! It is therapeutic and relaxing and I made the most delightful litttle hedgehog. Karin was a wonderful teacher (I think her background is in teaching), she told us how to achieve what we wanted and gave us ideas and lots of information - she wasn't a 'do this and do it like that' sort of teacher at all. It was great company, and a really fabulous day of learning a new craft. I took home an exquisite little animal that I adore.
Karin is such a talented maker and teacher - I went on the one day course to felt a hedgehog at Leek Wootton House last year and thoroughly enjoyed it! The venue is delightful and so is the host and I was made to feel completely relaxed and at home. I learnt so much technically about needle felting that was invaluable. From wrapping legs round wires and solidifying bodies, as well as creating eyes to make them look realistic, refering to different types of animals, as well as hedgehogs. Karin told us to expect that they would all turn out very differently and we were so delighted when they did! There was time to chat and enjoy spending time together, I recommend Karin's courses for anyone whether they are a complete beginner or a more experienced felt maker .
This is excellent value. I've attended a one day felting workshop with Karin, as a complete beginner. I came home with a gorgeous, characterful hare, and addicted to a new hobby. Karin is a patient and engaging tutor, who takes time with individuals to help everyone master various techniques. The atmosphere is friendly, inclusive and relaxed. Highly recommended.
I've now done two of Karin's one day courses and cannot recommend them enough; she creates a wonderful atmosphere, in which to work, and immediately puts you at ease. She is a patient tutor and has a great sense of humor and whimsy, which is evident from her creatures, and she uses this to help her students to bestow individuality upon the creatures that they will make for themselves. There are always lots of laughs and, if you are lucky, some chocolate....
I attended a one day course and enjoyed the day tremendously. Above all else, it was fun, and the other people in on the course were very friendly. I made an elephant, and with Karin's support it turned out better than I'd hoped. I bought a starter pack, and since doing the course I've made lots of felted animals as gifts, so my new skills have been used a lot since.
I am fortunate to say I have attended a one-day course with lovely Karin. I was an absolute beginner, with no confidence that I was 'crafty' enough to produce anything resembling the gorgeous creatures Karin makes. The group made hedgehogs, and I'm happy to say my hedgehog could hold his head up amongst his peers! I was delighted. I met some really lovely people, and Karin was a dream teacher. I'm booked to do the two-day armature course in March and I can't wait.
I had been to other needle felting workshops before, but this was a different experience...Karin makes teaching seem effortless (although I'm sure it isn't!) and is able to encourage each person individually at the very point they need help and pointers.
She shares knowledge and experience while allowing you to find your own way of working and takes everyone's individual aspirations (a dog, an elephant, a chicken, a chameleon, a wyvern etc) in her stride.
A really enjoyable day with lots of laughter amid the hard work!
