New - Create unique mono prints in Hampshire, Tuesday 21st March 2023.
Description
Next promoted date: Tuesday 21st March - as part of Art in the Barn, a creative arts week. Dating back to the 1600's, mono prints are unique one-off pieces of art. The process has been explored by numerous artists including Rembrandt, Edgar Degas, Matisse and Picasso. This flexible and often experimental process, combines drawing, printing and a more painterly approach, with a lovely spontaneity. The image is created by applying water based inks to a plastic plate using rollers or brushes, before images are transferred to paper by hand. We will explore single and multi coloured drawn mono prints, painted mono prints and a further experimental process, enabling you to create a range of outcomes with images that inspire you. There will be a particular focus on learning how to continue these techniques in your home. This workshop is suitable for people with a range of creative experiences, wishing to explore a number of printmaking techniques. The workshop will be held in an C18th thatched Long Barn in The Meon Valley. It’s an inspirational building in the beautiful South Downs National Park. The workshop will be delivered by Liz Wellby on Tuesday 21st March 2023. About the tutor Liz Wellby is a versatile and experienced artist, teacher and maker, with a particular interest in sculpture and printmaking. Following the completion of a Fine Arts degree at Loughborough University and subsequent post graduate studies, she returned to Derbyshire, where for over 25 years she has lived and worked. Home for Liz, her husband and a cat called Bert, is now a small village on the edge of the Peak District. It’s possible to arrange accommodation on the farm, with a choice of yurts or shepherds huts; please chat with Alison Butler for further details.
