This fun and friendly workshop will show you how to create beautiful hand embroidery, using just a few simple stitches. Whether you are brand new to embroidery or have some previous experience, this workshop will introduce you to simple and effective ways of making your own unique designs, with a natural theme.
What's included in the price?
Using the garden, books and magazines for inspiration, we will choose a subject matter that interests you (flowers, leaves, landscapes, birds etc.) and choose the colours and stitches to create stunning designs. No previous hand embroidery experience is necessary as full tuition will be provided on the day and a handout pack will be provided for your reference at home. All threads and fabrics are also provided during the day. The workshop will include the following: * Choosing your subject matter to stitch * Selecting appropriate colour and thicknesses of thread * Selecting your fabric to work on * Choosing your stitches and techniques to bring the image to life * Demonstration and tuition in a range of hand embroidery stitches * Working with an embroidery hoop

In case we haven’t met before, I’m Jen Johnson and I run Sew Forest of Dean, teaching all aspects of sewing by machine or by hand. I’m also a crazy cat lady, wife to Ed and Mum to identical twins Oscar and Charlie. My workshops and courses take place in my purpose-built garden studio in Clearwell and my aim is very simple – to help get people sewing. My designs have been featured in British Patchwork and Quilting Magazine and I am qualified in Textiles, from Herefordshire Ludlow College.
