Make a log basket to sit next to your fireside in the winter months
To attend this course you need to have previously woven a stake and strand basket. This course will include different techniques of willow weaving and basket making. To start you will learn how to create a large round base with hidden joins. Sarah will talk you through different types of weave so you can design the sides of your basket. Finally you will turn the side stakes down to be a beautiful border and then add twisted handles.

Sarah Hatton, the course tutor, has been willow weaving since 2008. Sarah has recently passed a City and Guilds in basketry making her a qualified basketmaker. Sarah was awarded the Craft Showcase Award 2015 at Made by Hand, Cardiff. She grows her own willow in Caerphilly which gives her a yearlong sustainable source of willow.

What's included in the price?
Tools are provided and you take home everything you make. Tea, coffee and cake are provided throughout the day but please bring a packed lunch.
Materials for this course are priced on a per basket basis to a maximum of £15 which will be paid on the day of the course.

I really enjoyed it and found the class quite interesting. I always wanted to work with willow but never managed the courage to just get up and go . I am glad I did it. Also would like to know when there will be another course.
