About the Course
About your tutor:
I graduated from Nottingham Trent University with a BA (Hons) in Knitwear & Fashion Design and worked as a freelance hand-knit designer, and in fashion retail as a manager, buyer and visual merchandiser. In 2003, I completed my PGCE at Homerton College Cambridge in Art & Design and have spent the last 15 years teaching Art and Textiles to GCSE and A level students.
Structure of the workshop days:
The aim is to provide a relaxed, friendly, supportive, experimental and fun experience where you will learn new (or revive previous) skills, and have a range of christmas cards, gift bags and tags to take home.
Group size: 4 – 6 people. You can book as a group or as an individual.
• Start 09.45 for 10.00am start (there is an option to do a half day session 10.00am to 1.00pm or 1.00pm to 4.00pm please email for details)
• 13.00 Lunch (45 minutes)
• 16.00 Finish
We will start by looking at a range of print exemplars – lino print (plus mono-print, stencil prints and found object printing). We will then prepare images ready to be transferred onto lino or cut as stencils. You'll be taken through each stage of cutting and preparing your lino step by step and will have an opportunity to prepare and experiment with a range of plain or mono-printed surfaces, coloured papers, cards, gift tags and bags to print your lino designs onto. We will then spend the afternoon printing. Work may still be ‘tacky’ at going home time so it can either be sent home to you a few days later or you may wish to consider how you could transport it home – spread out in the back of the car would work.
If booking with a CraftCourses voucher for part or all of the course fee, please fill in the contact form above or telephone us. Your voucher code must be provided at the point of booking.

Fantastic day yesterday at Judiths home studio surrounded by her creative ideas and lovely garden! I was delighted to create a linocut in the morning and then print a range of different colours and effects ready to make a Christmas frieze when the ink drys. There was also time to experiment with printing using different materials and inks and colour.
Judith is such a good guide and teacher and makes suggestions that enhance your work and yet still retaining your own ideas and individuality.
I came away feeling I had really created work that I was proud of and happy to share with others!
This was my second course with Judith and I thoroughly recommend her courses
